Esmerelda Gomez is a fairly typical high school student -- she hates school, loves music, plays hookey too much, thinks her parents are much too strict, and simultaneously wants to stand apart from and blend into the crowd -- except for one thing: she has mutant superpowers that let her generate and manipulate electricity and other kinds of energy.
Esme loves having superpowers -- if she could have her way, she'd spend all her time running around Paragon City, busting bad guys, and basking in the adoration of the crowd. She often seems naive and idealistic, but she knows the good times can't last forever -- eventually, her parents are going to find out that she's been skipping school to beat up on Hellions and the Fifth Column, and when that happens, she's gonna get the grounding of a lifetime.
So far, she's been lucky, in more ways than one. Her parents haven't yet found out about her extracurricular crimefighting activities. And just about the time she got the Circle of Thorns and the Outcasts really mad at her, her father got a new job in Miami. Safely out of Paragon City, Esme is keeping herself busy. She has a whole new city of supervillains to torment now...
