My Bedroom/Living Room/Closet/etc....

Where I sleep, watch TV, study, eat (yeah!  sometimes!), and do just about any thing else.

Well, this is my other room!  I only have the two... outcounting the toilet and shower rooms.  This is a traditional "wa-shitsu" (Japanese style) tatami room.  It is 6 tatami mats big (that's how they are measured).  A tatami mat is about 3x6--about the sleeping space needed for one person.  Soo.. my room sleeps six..?  Ehh.. I doubt that! (: You can see my dresser there; it houses all my clothes.  The closet on the left side is for my futon/bedding/vacuum/iron. (:

Here's a shot from the other direction--standing in the doorway.  (That is a glass imitation of a shoji screen (paper) door).  Both 'doors' slide across the threshold, so I can close it completely or open either end. So from this direction you can see my futon closet a bit better, as well as my TV stand.  There's a VCR and a 'boombox' in the stand.  I might get a DVD player while I'm here--not sure yet! (:  I only get 6 channels, so TV isn't too spectacular.  BUT, I do get to watch Inuyasha, so I'm not complaining. (;

Here, too, you can see my TV 'corner'.  The white machine on the wall is the AC. (:  It works wonderfully. He he.  That grey drawer thingie was left behind in the apartment... so I'm doing my best to use it.

My Balcony/ Laundry Room

This is my washer, on the left side of my balcony. Yeah, OUTside.  Kinda weird, but that's the way most Japanese apartments are.

The curtain covers the sliding glass door that leads to my balcony--which is where I do laundry.  See? (:  Here is today's laundry drying in the sun! (:

Wondering where my bed is?  You don't know much about living Japanese style do you? (;  No problem!  One reason I was sent here was to promote cultural exchange!  He he.  So here, let me show you my 'bedroom'!

When it's time for bed...

BECOMES THIS! I pull those two futons (beautiful, aren't they?) out of the closet and put them on the floor!  It's not as cozy as my bed back home, but... when in Rome! That's a sheet folded up at the foot of my futon.  In this weather, it's about all I can stand to use!  And you can kinda make out my bean/stuffed pillow at the head.

<-- This is my new desk!  I got it about 2 weeks ago.  Now I have a REAL nightstand. (:  And it's much more comfy using my laptop now!  Hooray!
