Welcome to Numazu!
Numazu-shi (city), written in kanji
The first (Numa) means 'swamp' or 'marsh' and the second (Tsu) means 'harbor' or 'ferry'.  The last kanji (shi) means 'city'.  Neat, huh?  Hehe
A bird's eye view of Numazu.  You can see many of the bridges that span the Kano River, and also Suruga Bay.
See the brown/grey area along the riverbank?  That is the concrete stairway/walkway along the river, in the picture below.  It's a nice place to sit and admire the view. (:
Numazu-ans are very proud of the natural beauty of their city--as they should be.  Here, you can see Fuji among the tiny islands of Suruga Bay.
On a clear day, Mt Fuji can be seen past the mountains of Numazu.  It is about 30-35 miles away.  It wasn't hard at all to find images of Fuji, seen from Numazu. (:
Fuji, Senbon Beach, and a restless Suruga Bay.
Numazu and Mt Fuji, by night.  You can see the Kano River along the bottom of the picture, with one of the bridges lit up. (:
A snow-covered Fuji, seen from Mt Kanuki in April.  There is a Buddhist temple hiding up in the mountains there.  You can see the pagoda top here, among cherry blossoms.  When I visit City Hall, I can see this temple from the window.  I'll get a picture soon!
Inside Numazu!
Here are a few pictures of Numazu City.  These are near the city center.
Numazu also has rural areas (like Oohira!) where you can see rice patties stretching for miles, at the foot of the mountains.
I'll get pictures soon!  I promise!
Care to see more of FUJI?
Many of these images, and lots of this info was found on these sites: Numazu, Shizuoka.  Thank you!!
