One day, in the 'Age of Angst', a new and different Fairy came into being. Her name was Evilina! She was not beautiful looking as the other Fairies and was jealous of their beauty and charm.Evilina became obsessed with envy and hated all other beings; the Humans, Animals and all Little People, especially the Fairies.
One day Evilina got annoyed with a Weed growing in her garden and cursed and swore at it and theweed shrivelled and died. Evilina was amazed! She felt a sudden surge of power throughout her body. Evilina became known as the "Bad Fairy". All creatures avoided her and lived in fear of her.
Elsewhere "In the Land of Dreams", a beautiful and powerful Fairy came into being. Her name was 'Serena'. She had Love for all creatures and bestowed her love on all that came in contact with her.
One day whilst walking through the forest she accidentally broke off a branch of a tree and was so distressed by her action that she cried and cried. As she was crying a 'Voice' from somewhere said,"Don't distress yourself! Heal me with your Love and I will serve you forever!"
"How do I do this?"
"Bestow your Love"
Serena thought for a moment, and said, "I am sorry I broke you off and it is not my will that you should wither and die! Forgive me!" There was a sudden flash of light and the branch became a Wand with a shining twinkling starlike end to it.
"All you need do is command me and I shall do your bidding!"
Fairy, fairy of the rain,
When Evilina heard of Serena's Magical Wand and the Power Serena
had through it she became extremely angry and cursed and swore, killing
many unfortunate creatures in the process! In her anger she turned some Fairies into stone! One was smelling flowers, another kneeling, another at a pond and two who were kissing. All were turned into stone!
Evilina rushed to the Land of Dreams and challenged Serena to a dual but
Serena refused to engage her in battle, which only enraged Evilina
even more!In her rage she snatched the Magic Wand from Serena's hand
and commanded it to destroy Serena! However, the Wand did not obey her!
Instead it sprang from her grasp, whirled around her and stripped Evilina of her power and her energy fell like blobs of light onto the ground!
"Let it be known that Evil has no place in "The Land of Dreams!"
Peace and tranquility returned to The Land of Dreams. The rule of Love
reigned supreme! The Gnomes and Fairies returned to the home and gardens of the humans and all living creatures were once again living in peace.
The Fairies performed a magic dance in honour of Serena for freeing
them from Evilina's evil spell. The celebration went on throughout the
night and the sound of their joyous singing filled the countryside. They danced throught the forest, the fields and into an orchard of Plum trees, so they called their dance, "The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies"
"All through the night
Not long after the celebration Lady Flutterby fluttered through the forest on her errands. This is her story of the events.
And Rotten it certainly was! I saw some Fairies turned into strange statues
and in very strange poses! I had never seen anything like it in my life! They shone as though they were made of metal! I fluttered around them to see if there was any sign of life. Much to my dismay I couldn't get any indication at all! However, I had a flutter of a feeling that things did not appear as they seemed!I flew round and round, maybe a hundred times or more, over them, under them, between them but nothing I did not get a response! They were transfixed! Set in bronze or something! Just when I was about to give up I heard a faint voice calling way up high in a tree above me.
Looking up I saw Serena, the Queen Fairy! I flutterd a salute and enquired what had happened. The Bad Fairy, Evilina had got her revenge for being turned into a dragon and turned the fairies into metal and stripped Serena of her Magic Powers! Or so she thought!
Serena became paper thin and very, very light. We soon attached ourselves onto her and flew Serena back to the safety of the Magic Forest. I carried the Magic Wand and once Serena was placed safely onto the ground I held it above her and she made a wish to return to normal. Serena became her usual self amid the cheers from all around!
Once upon a time there was a very tiny Fairy called Wee Willy. He was a miniture fairy, half the size of a Thumb. All the other fairies made fun of him and called him names. This made him very unhappy. And angry! He would sneak away from the other fairies and hide underneath a favourite toadstool and make wishes that he would grow bigger. But nothing ever happened, he always remained tiny! The more and harder he wished the unhappier it made him. He always stayed tiny! Sometimes he would sit on a leaf and watch as insects flew pass him, some were bigger than he was! One day a dragonfly flew pass and scared him so much that he hid underneath a leaf for a long time, too scared to come out into the open. Bees would buzz loudly near him but never bothered him. Ants though would often try and drag him away to their nest.
Grasshoppers sometimes landed nearby and frightened him, though they never meant to harm him and would say "Sorry" for frightening him. It was no fun being tiny! Not at all!! "I'm too small and I want to grow bigger. Nothing I do makes me grow!" "If you were to accept yourself as you really are than who you think you want to be, you would be happier." "Well, why don't you look for the Magic Toadstool and ask it to help you" "What Magic Toadstool?" "There's one in the forest somewhere, you'll just have to find it!" "What does it look like? I mean, how will I know I have the right toadstool?" "Oh You'll recognize it all right! It shakes like jelly on a plate and red with white spots!" Wee Willy searched the Forest high and low looking for the Magic Toadstool but never found it. He saw many toadstools though. White, brown and even some red ones with white spots. He suspected that some were painted by Gnomes though. They liked a colourful forest and were often splashing paint around. He even saw a Gnome sound asleep using a toadstool for a pillow! Wee Willy ventured deeper and deeper into the heart of the forest. It was dark and gloomy, quite unlike the colourful area he grown up in.
He had almost given up hope of finding the Magic Toadstool and was about to abandon his quest when he saw something red and white quivering in the distance. He approached it with caution because he knew that Goblins liked to play tricks on the forest dwellers. "Hhhulllo! Wwhoo are Yyuoo?" "I am Wee Willy and you must be the Magic Toadstool" Mmmagic? Only mmmagic bbbecause I'M ddddifferent." "Oh I see" "Nnnno you don't! Wwwhen I was young nnnno one wanted to know mmme. They abandoned me and nnnnow I'm alone here, deep in the forest. Some magic!!!" "I want to be different. I want to be taller!" "Taller? Tall? Eeeeverything is tall to mmme!" "Can you make me taller?" "Mmmaybe. Is it really wwwhat you want?" "YES!" "Wwwell then, you will be as ttttall as you wwwant!" There was a loud swishing sound. Something engulfed Wee Willy and he felt himself being spun round and round. When the spinning stopped he found himself to be much taller and growing taller still! "Bbbbegone with you bbbefore you tttrample me to death!!!" Wee Willy looked down and saw that the Magic Toadstool was way, way down. He must have grown! His wings were now much larger and his arms and legs were longer! He had indeed grown! He couldn't wait to show off to the other fairies! When Wee Willy arrived home the other fairies ran away from him in fear. He had grown almost to the size of a Human being! Humans were considered the worst form of life in the forest because of the great harm they had done. As the Old Gum Tree once said, "Humans have Knowledge but lack Understanding!! Knowledge is only the accumulation of facts; most distorted. Understanding on the other hand, is Truth. The truth that comes from within!" It is with knowledge of mechanics that humans invade the forest with their four and two wheeled things, roaring through the forest and in most cases destroying everything in their path. Their knowledge of science has poisoned the earth and laid waste much of it in their conquest. Knowledge has made the air unfit to breathe. Knowledge has made the rivers unfit to drink. Knowledge has turned beautiful forest in salt land. Any idiot could do these things! "If the Humans had Understanding they would not be so ignorant and darn right stupid! They are without doubt the curse of the Earth!" Old Gum Tree said. Wee Willy found himself an outcast again! His Human-like size set him apart. No one would approach him and most would simply fly away. Everywhere he went he had to be carefull not to trample smaller creatures and his large size meant he could no longer do what he loved most, sitting on toadstools, leaves or on flowers. He could no longer fly with the Bees; hitch a ride on the back of a Butterfly or a jockey in Pidgeon racing. Being a giant had little to reccomend it!. He made his way back to where he met the Magic Toadstool. It was not easy going! He had to fly because he knew he would destroy the forest floor with his large feet. Flying through the low branches was not easy either, and he nearly got caught up many times. When he finally made it to the Magic Toadstool he was completely exhausted and sat on the ground. "Wwwwell, Mr Giant, Hhhhow's life at the gggggiddy heights?" "In a word: Terrible!!" "Mmmmm! I 'spose you want to go back to normal then?" "Oh definately thanks!" Wwwwell I'm confused! First Yyyyou come here saying you're nnnnot normal and want to be tall and now that you're tttttall you say you're not normal! So what is normal?" "The way I was before! That's normal." "Bbbut will you be hhhhappy 'that normal'? "Yes! It is only now that I realise that i was the size that was normal for me" "Am I normal, then?" "Yes, of course!" The moment Wee Willy uttered these words he felt himself starting to shrink. Down, down and down he shrank until he reached his original size. He ran his hands over his body, felt his arms and legs and he felt wonderful! Wonderful to be 'normal'. "Now perhaps you could do something for me?" "Yes, of course, anything!" "Kiss me" Wee Willy was momentarily stunned by the request but after a few hesitant moments leant over the top of the Magic Toadstool and kissed it. Once again there was a loud swishing sound and something swirled round the Magic Toadstool. There came a loud "CRACK" noise, like a whip, a flash of light and suddenly standing before Wee Willy was another fairy the same size as himself! "I too was not happy being a tiny fairy! I pestered every one about it, moaning and groaning and people soon got fed up with me. One day a witch got angry with my continual moaning and turned me into a Toadstool. Other toadstools rejected me and I have been here ever since. But now I am 'normal'. Thank you!" "What is your name?" "Crystal ... and you are Wee Willy, right?" "Yes.. but how did you know my name?" "Oh, the whole forest knows about your moaning! You're lucky the witch didn't turn YOU into a toadstool too!" Wee Willy and Crystal made their way back to their fairy home. Wee Willy showed Crystal one of his favourite hiding places within a Daisy bush and was feeling really wonderful about being 'normal' again when Lady Flutterby landed on a daisy flower. "I see you have rejoined us. I gather we wont have to put up with your complaints anymore then!" "No! I'm happy being what I am" "I told you that if you accept yourself as you are you'd be happy!" These days Wee Willy can be found enjoying all his old pursuits; sitting among the flowers, sliding down leaves and sitting on top of Toadstools, especially red ones with white dots. He rejoined the Pidgeon Racing Club and once again became a jockey. He never won many races but he didn't mind he had all he wanted in life now; including a wife: Crystal!
Emily saw a very high wall and in the wall was a gate and it was open, so she
went in. Emily looked around and saw that there had once been a beautiful
garden but was now over-run with weeds, creepers and vines.
There was a narrow path among piles of rubbish so she walked along it until she came to a large barn with a very large Wooden door. On the door was painted the words: "The Secret Door". She walked around the side of the barn but couldn't get far because of some bushes that grew along side. She went to the wooden door and peeped through a key hole and to her surprise she could see a bright light somewhere inside!
She pulled and pulled on the brass Doorhandle! Although the door creaked a bit,
it wouldn't open. She tried and tried and it still wouldn't open! She looked
around the doorway, above the door, in front but couldn't find a key.
She was about to give up when she noticed something on the ground in front of
the door. It was an old rusty key! She wiped the dirt and rust off with her
dress and when clean, inserted it into the key hole. She moved the key back
and forth several times and gave it a twist, and the door gave a loud creak
and opened.
Somewhere in the distance was a bright light and she walked slowly toward it.
The light was coming from a room down a long passageway. She slowly approached and when she got to the door she looked inside.
Standing there was Gnome doing his exercises! The strange thing was that as he exercised his clothes changed from work clothes to pyjamas! The light seemed to be all around him and he glowed as the clothes changed on him!
And he never took off his large hat to change either!
"Cant stop! "Why? What does the rain do?"
"Shrinks and shrinks "Nonsense!"
"No, NO! There was a loud splashing sound and water was thrown on the Gnome from a bucket which landed at her feet! And the Gnome disappeared! A light came on and Emily looked around the room and couldn't see anyone! The room was empty, except for herself! There was no light bulb or other light fittings, the light was just there, lighting the room! Suddenly a door appeared out of the wall and it opened up letting in more light. The door led to another passageway and somewhere down the passageway Emily could hear a voice. She walked slowly down the passage toward the room where the sound was coming from and cautiously peered inside. Inside was a curious little man, A Dwarf jumping from one foot and then the other saying the strangest of things!
"Cant stand still Suddenly the light went off! She stood in the darkness and was starting to feel afraid when the light came back on again. This time it was a faint blue light. There were other little lights, like stars twinkling, that seemed to cover the ceiling and part of the walls. The twinkling lights were of many different colours. Red, white, pink, green and yellow ones. It was as though she was in space somewhere; in the Milky Way! There was the sound of music somewhere! Somewhere in the distance and the stars seemed to twinkle in rythym with it. As she listened to the music it drew her down the pasageway toward another room! Closer and closer she went until she was inside.
Inside was another Dwarf looking down at his feet and doing some sort of dance in tune with the music.
"What a strange place this is! Lights go and off. Funny little men jumping around saying the wierdest of things!" As Emily said this the lights got brighter and brighter, so bright she had to close her eyes from the glare. She could see the light through her eyelids even! The brightness and glare was about to hurt her eyes when the lights dimmed down again momentarily and then went off! There was total darkness once again! This time she was afraid, something told her that she quite safe and that no harm would come to her. The light came back on, not in the room she was in but down the passageway and inside another room. She made her way toward the room and as she got approached it she could hear a thumping sound. A sound like someone marching.
Then she saw another Dwarf, an older man with a beard and walking stick.
The lights flashed off, then on again. The little old man disappeared! A bright light came on down the passageway she had just come. They flashed on and off as if indicating to her to go toward them. She went down the passage, through a large room, into another passage and through yet another room. All the time the lights were flashing ahead of her. Leading her. The light was much closer now. As she drew closer she could feel a gentle, cool breeze on her face. Somehow she knew she was going outside. The Wooden door was open and she went outside. She could see the path she had come on and recognised the the piles of rubbish alongside the pathway. She felt safe now, knowing where she was. Then she turned round and saw that the Wooden Door had turned into a Cat's head! A black and white cat's head and it was flashing off and on! Emily got a terrible fright and jumped back and hid behind some flowers. She wanted to scream, but couldn't!
"No! No! Go away!"
"Mummy, I had the strangest of dreams!" She then told her Mother all about the dream and asked what it could have meant. "The Secret Door. You haven't told any of your friends about our trip yet, have you? Then it's a secret! The Gnome and the Dwarfs were all doing something urgent, preparing for something, like packing for instance. The light was probably a Guiding Light, leading you on, showing the way. The rooms appear to be your bedroom here and prospect of another elsewhere. All seems quite straight forward to me!" "What about the door changing to the cat, then?" "Cant figure that out! Unless where we're going they have a black and white cat! We'll just have to wait and see!" "I hope it doesn't flash off and on then!" "Go back to sleep, dear. You've had a busy night!"
Samantha insisted that she be called Sami because she didn't like "Samantha". It reminded her of something that happened when she was but a child. Something horrible!
Because of this event she suffered bouts of depression, mood swings and a feeling of constant lonliness. A lonliness of spirit. Alone-ness, she called it! A feeling that something very special had been taken from her and had left a void within. Deep within! Nothing that she tried seemed to fill this void, alcohol, drugs or religion!
She felt alone in the world! All alone! With no one to reach out to, to share her inner self with. No one seemed to understand her and most thought she was "strange", a nut case, and avoided her! She became withdrawn and introverted. Her world was a closed world known only to herself. A world of fantasy; Fairies, Gnomes and most of all, her God!
Sami had strong religious beliefs, though probably considered unconventional had anyone bothered to ask! No one did of course, no one seemed to care!
She had long since learned to keep her beliefs and religious convictions to herself.
Sami always prayed a "Thank You", never a "Give me" prayer. Even though life was not pleasant for her, she was gratefull for what she had and considered "Give Me" prayers wrong. Afterall, there were God's Angels and other Little Helpers, to see that her needs were met!
She had been tempted many times to ask for a means of escape from her depression. Somewhere to go to when she was at her lowest ebb. A special place of her own! A safe place without fear of recrimination and judgement.
A place to find herself. A place of refuge: a sanctuary.
Sami sat in her bedroom drawing in her sketch book. There were flowers, Fairies, Gnomes and all kinds of Little People, with happy, smiling faces.
She was totally absorbed in what she was doing when she heard a soft, gentle voice call her name.
She thought it may have been someone playing a practical joke on her so she looked outside her bedroom door. No one was there! Once again she heard the voice, it came from behind her, inside the bedroom.
"Clear away the clutter that is obstructing the view. Clear your mind, have faith and all will be revealed unto you!"
Sami took a deap breath, thought about her drawings and concentrated on their beauty, the peace and tranquilty each drawing presented and felt a sudden calm flow over her body and mind. She felt a presence there, somewhere near her and strangely, she was not afraid! Sitting on a cushion was a very small Fairy like creature.
"Hullo Sami. How is it that you can see me now?"
"First of all clear away external interference and focus onto the spiritual to generate the kind of energies you seek to draw unto yourself.
The next step is to create a peaceful space within your mind. This will be your Inner Sanctuary, to which you can come anytime you feel a need to do so.
Whatever you create within your mind is real, even though it may not be physically visible to those around you!
Before you commence this journey rid yourself of negative energies. You don't want to take them into your sanctuary! Relax your body, mind and spirit. Think of positive wholesome things. Think of someone, something you Love and focus your love upon it. This will help cleanse you of negative feelings!
Imagine within your mind a special place that gives you a feeling of peace and spiritual upliftment. It could be a deserted beach, beside a stream, the top of a mountain, a grassy field! The place should be one that feels right for you. Take your time and let it grow naturally in your mind. Menatally place yourself within the scene. Make yourself a part of it and help it grow as vivid and alive in your mind as it can be.
Sit yourself down, rest your hands on the ground and feel the texture of the earth. Feel the flow of air currents around you. Breathe them in, savour the freshness and fragrance of the air.
This is your personal place. A sanctuary. The place where you come to feel at peace and attunement with the spirit of life itself. Take the time to make this space inside yourself as beautiful and as real as you can possibly make it.. Don't try to hurry things, savour every tiny little detail. you are building a spiritual sanctuary, so give it your best.
Once this space inside has been created, it is there whenever you need to enter it. By focussing your thoughts into this space, you can draw yourself into it at any time. You can carry it with you where ever you go!
After a time you will begin to notice a living presence in your sanctuary, a loving, spiritual presence that greets you whenever you enter. You may "see" the presence as a human figure, Fairy or a Gnome! You may simply feel it as an invisible personality!
Don't make the mistake of trying to create this presence if it is not there in the beginning. It will come of its own accord!
Don't dismiss it as a product of your own wishful fantasy. It is characteristic of sensitives to doubt their inner impressions. It is necessary to peel away the layers of ignorance, self doubt and illusion that have been woven around you by the voices of conditioning and to go back to the open-minded simplicity and instinctive wisdom of childhood.
Place your trust in the spirit that moves within you and not the world of mankind!
Enter your inner sanctuary as often as you wish. Listen for the inner voice and you will hear it. Dismiss the voices of doubt and discover your own truth. If you really listen, you will realise that whenever this particular voice speaks in your mind, it is always correct, even when you might prefer it to be otherwise. The advice it gives to you may not always be the easiest to follow but it always brings the most worthwhile results. the more you listen, the more clearly you will be able to hear ... and to understand."
Sami created a Sanctuary. Over time she learnt to enter it when she was facing difficulties with people or in threatening circumstances. She learnt that the peace of the sanctuary transcended into her everday life and she felt confident and trusted her own ability for the first time in her life.
She discovered that the more she entered her inner sanctuary the more it became her. The peace and tranquility it brought her also seemed to reach out to others around her. That they were touched by it and were drawn to her.
Her Inner Sanctuary was their Sanctuary and were welcome to join her!
Sitting by a stream, listening to the water flowing over the rocks, the birds singing, Fairies in branches, Gnomes at work and Pixies sitting on toadstools.
