by

the Director for the History Association of
Belle-Ile-en-Mer,
and
MR BONA ARSENAULT
who incorporated this
list of the Acadian in Belle-ile-en-mer in his book
Histoire et
Genealogie des Acadiens, Tome 6
Belle-Ile-en-Mer, is a large island off the coast of Brittany, in
France,
which was the personal property of
LOUIS
XV
...then, in 1766, it was divided between the inhabitants,
which
included 78 Acadian families.
Of these, 55 Acadian families were from the group refused
by
Virginia in 1755 and who were imprisonned in Falmouth and Liverpool
prisons between 1756 and 1763 and then had gone to Morlaix.
Another 22 Acadian families had spent the same years in
the
Southhampton prison, before going to St-Malo
Belle-Ile-en-Mer was divided in 4 Parishes:
who became Communes in
1789, when the French Revolution started
Palais
Locmaria
Bangor
Sauzon
This list also includes the French who married some of the Acadians.
Some individuals later left Belle-Ile, going to Lorient, Auray, Vannes,
Quimper, Concarneau, and other places in France,
then, after 1785, when permission
was given, some went back to Louisiana,
where they hoped to find back
friends and family.
Other individuals and families also remained in
Belle-Ile-en-Mer
or were given land in the Poitou.

Jean-Baptiste-Laurent (Doumergue) ARNICHAUD,
was originally from Montpellier in the Languedoc.
It was the beginning of the French Revolution and
he was married three times, 1788, 1789, 1792.
He had a child (Jeanne Francoise-Marie-Anne (Babin) ARNICHAUD,
born in 1790) from his second wife, Anne-Francoise (Carriere) BABIN,
to whom he was married in October 1789.
Anne-Francoise was the daughter of Laurent (Dupuis) Babin
and Marie-Francoise (LeGoff) Carriere

with his Mother-in-law, Judith Beliveau, widow Claude Boudrot.
He drowned in September 1768 in a shipwreck.
His daughter Marie
came to Belle-Ile-en-Mer in 1785 where she married Paul
Trahan.
Basile (Boudrot) ARSENAULT, 1754, was married at La Rochelle in April 1780 to Anne
(Hebert) Bourgeois, daughter of Joseph Bourgeois and Marguerite Hebert of
Miquelon.
Anne re-married in 1785 Maxime Gaspard, from Venise.
Michel ARSENEAU, a sailor claiming land in the Poitou, during the Belle-Ile 1773 Census, is said to be of LORIENT. (No other info)

Babin was elected assistant municipal officer by the villagers in 1792. He died in 1807.

OLIVIER BLANCHARD DAIGRE, born in 1703, son of OLIVIER DAIGRE and
JEANNE BLANCHARD of Port Royal, was deported to Falmouth in England, with
all his family, where he died on December 8, 1756.
Francoise was in
Belle-ile-en-mer in 1767, with her sons:

Honore, the
first son of OLIVIER, born in 1726, was married three times: first on
March 15 1748 to FRANCOISE-OSITE (Dugas) DUPUIS, daughter of Antoine Dupuis
and Marie-Josephe Dugas, and they had 2 sons,

again, twice while in Falmouth where the family stayed over six years, in
1757 to his second wife Marguerite Melanson Landry, daughter of Antoine
Landry and Marie Melanson, and they had one son who died at 20 yrs old in

3 yrs old when his Father re-married to his third and last wife, still in
Falmouth, ELISABETH HEBERT TRAHAN, daughter of Jean Trahan and Marie
Hebert; Elisabeth was the widow of Charles Terriot of Grand-Pre, and she
had three children with Honore:

Joseph Michel Trahan Daigre 1766 in Palais who married in
1790 Marie-Elisabeth Landry Duon (5 children) and then in 1803,
Jeanne-Francoise Thomas (5 children),
and the last child of Honore and
Elisabeth was Marie-Catherine Trahan Daigre 1769.
In 1779, when she
died in Belle-ile-en-mer, Francoise Granger Daigre, was Grand-Mother to 38
children born to her five sons, all married and living close-by, except
for Paul's family who was in Port-Louis, working in the "Fermes du Roy".
Paul Granger Daigre sold his Belle-ile-en-mer land concession in 1785 to
his brother Honore but remained in France and had many descendants who
were living mostly in Bordeaux.
HONORE GRANGER DAIGRE died in Palais in
1803 and his wife ELISABETH HEBERT TRAHAN TERRIOT DAIGRE died the year
after in 1804.
OLIVIER (Granger) DAIGRE married twice, and in 1785 sold
his lands to his brother Honore, after having become the widower of
MARIE-BLANCHE (Thibodeau) LEBLANC DAIGRE in 1784, the Mother of his
children:

In 1785, Oliver Granger
Daigre he left France on the Beaumont went to Louisiana with his

Oliver's decendants would get one-fifth of the estate of their maternal

twice, once in 1758 in Falmouth to Marie-Madeleine Landry Terriot,
daughter of Jean Terriot and Marie Landry, and they had eight

DAIGLE, on the Beaumont in 1785 with his brother Oliver and his
Family, who also changed the spelling of their surname to DAIGLE in
LOUISIANA.

first in Palais Marie (LeBlaNc) MELANSON (from GRAND PRE), and nine years later, he re-married a French girl, Marie Le Couriault from Quiberon.
He had three children with the first wife, and four in the second.
His descendants are still in Belle-Ile and France but also in the USA because his son Paul-Olivier (Melanson) DAIGRE, b. 1767, left for Louisiana on the Beaumont in 1785 and settled in Saint-Gabriel and Iberville.

Francois-Joseph Fierdebras was the only Fierdebras to marry an Acadian.
He might very well have been from the Morbihan,
for some Lefierdebras families settled there later on.
Francois Joseph Fierdebras married in the families of the
Thibodeau (of Pisiguit), the Vincent and the Terriot (Thériault). It was 1784 when Francois-Joseph Fierdebras
married Marie Thibodeau in Palais.
Marie Thibodeau was born in the Liverpool prison around 1758.
Her Father had just died there, in the Liverpool prison, after the trip of the 1755 Great Deportation.
He was named Francois Thibodeau, born in 1717 in Pisiguit, son of Philippe Thibodeau and Elisabeth Vincent.
Marie's Mother, Anastasie Terriot (probably from La Rivière aux Canards in GrandPré) was living in Cosquet, Locmaria, in 1767 and during the French Revolution, in 1792, she was in Lorient.
Marie had an elder sister, Marguerite-Josephe (1748) and two brothers: Francois-Eloi Thibodeau (1744) & Charles-Joseph Thibodeau (1746).
Charles, widower of Anne Hébert, was a sailor in Lorient in 1773. His title to Belle Ile gave him the right to get land in Poitou.
Marie Thibodeau & Francois-Joseph Fierdebras had at least two children:
Francois Fierdebras (1785) & Anastasie-Marie-Perrine (1790)
In 1793 the census shows Marie living with her daughter in Lorient.

FONDARD
Pierre Fondard was born in 1777 in France, at la Cote d'Or in Burgundy,
and was Captain of a regiment in Belle-Ile.
He was a man of courage, he had gotten the famous Legion d'honneur.
In Palais, in 1812, he married Honorine «Babin» Sauvario,
daughter of a Belgian father, Pierre-Michel Sauvario, born in 1746 in Gand, who was Major of the Surgeons in the 9th division of Infantery in Belle-Ile en Mer,
and husband of an Acadian Deportee: Marie-Anne «Carriere» Babin,
daughter of Laurent and Marie-Anne (LeGoff) Carriere.
Laurent (Dupuis) Babin, born in 1740, was the son of Claude Babin and Marguerite Dupuis, of Grand-Pré, (Beaubassin). Laurent married Marie-Françoise Carrière, a French lady, in Palais, on February 18 1766. She was the daughter of Martin Carrière and Jeanne-Martiale LeGoff, de Palais, Belle-Ile.
Laurent's Father, Claude (Richard) Babin, born in 1698, was the son of Charles BABIN and Madeleine Richard from GrandPré et il épousa Maguerite Dupuis, fille de Martin Dupuis et Marie Landry, à Saint-Charles-des Mines, en Acadie, Canada le 14 novembre 1718.
Les Babin, Richard, Landry et Dupuis étaient toutes d'importantes familles en Acadie, surtout de Grand-Pré, Beaubassin, Pisiguit et leur généalogie est impressionnante, mais tres longue

La grande déportation eut lieu en 1755, et peu survécurent les 5 années de cachots anglais.... En 1767, Claude Babin était décédé et en 1767 sa veuve était à Belle-ile, vivant avec son fils Jean-Charles, célibataire. Quatre de leurs enfants étaient venus a Belle-ile: Joseph (1735), Anne-Marie (1737), Laurent (1740) et Jean-Charles (1742). D'autres de leurs enfants étaient à Quebec, en Caroline (USA) et en Louisiane (USA)

Felix and Jacquette had three daughters: Marie-Josephe-Zelie (1807), Josephine (1809) and Francoise-Felicite (1815)

who lived in Locmaria (Belle-Ile) and married a Francois-Marie RIO. She died in Bangor (Belle-Ile).

was FIRST married in 1745 to Marguerite (Bourgeois) LEBLANC. He re-married in Liverpool in February 1758, while imprisonned, to Elisabeth (Brault) DAROIS who died within two years.
On May 12 1760, he married a third time, to the widow of Jean-Baptiste DUON, Madeleine (Doiron) VINCENT.
There were no children of their own but they looked after Francois (Landry) TRAHAN, son of Alexis TRAHAN and Anastasie LANDRY.
Joachim (Comeau) TRAHAN, b. 1735 in Pisiguit, son of Pierre (Benoit) TRAHAN and Madeleine (Hebert) COMEAU was married
in 1754 to Marguerite (Leblanc) LANDRY and they had one daughter before Marguerite died still imprisonned,
Marie-Blanche (Landry) TRAHAN.
Joachim re-married on October 14 1759, still in Liverpool, to Marie (Vincent) DUON, daughter of Jean Baptiste DUON and Madeleine VINCENT.
Marie (Vincent) DUON had a brother, HONORE (Vincent) DUON, also in Liverpool, married to Anne-Genevieve (Melancon) TRAHAN.(see HONORE DUON)

Widow of Joseph Vincent, Marguerite Beaudart, of Pisiguit.. Her
husband, born in 1722, was the son of Michel and his second wife,
Anne-Marie Doiron, of Pisiguit. He died in Liverpool in September of
1756.
Their childtren were Marie-Josephe 1746, dame Guillaume Montet,
Pierre Vincent 1748, left for Louisiana in 1785 on the "Beaumont" and went
to live in the Attakapas, in Saint-Martinville,
Jean Vincent 1746, Marie-Elisabeth Vincent 1748, Rose-Pelagie Vincent
1753, Elisabeth Vincent 1754, were the children of CHARLES VINCENT and
EUPHROSINE DUON who both died in Plymouth in 1756 . The children were
raised in Belle-Ile-en-Mer. In 1771, the Abbe Le Loutre asked and was
granted by the Governor of the island the permission to Elisabeth who was
now 17, to be admitted in the small Convent of Vannes.
