At some point in time a visiting German (Tanja) didn't know what wayward meant. The ensuring discussion amongst the regulars was quite amusing with Webster's sought out at home for the proper definition. This was followed by the creation of a paul problem "wayward german" and then another paul problem called "wayward soul". wayward german is yet another ascent of the face behind x-face starting with a low left foot and a high right step on a nub with a sidepull for the right hand. steve and geoff extended this into a complete problem up the face by flowing into an established sidepull problem, wayward souls is just left of beginner's crack and shares the 1st variation finish of paul's "dyslexic" problem.
Anyhow, this whole discussion seemed to create a suitable name for those that cluster around the burning barrel of carderock in place of other life demands: Carderock Wayward Souls, or CWS for short.
More history and discussion about the new wave of bouldering at Carderock will follow, when I have the time. The goal is a guidebook to the various problems presented to us at Carderock, but this might be (and has been) a long time in coming.

Tossed Again on a cold winter day in january 2003... well, it wasn't really THAT cold. Soon after this (next day?) I broke a key foothold and the flow was blown... good while it lasted.
