ALIADOS
ALIADOS is the
very first band from Peru to make it on our website and I am glad
to anounce they are quite sensational. They play awesome AOR in
the style of GIANT, JOURNEY, BAD ENGLISH, only with Spanish
lyrics. I reviewed their debut CD which came out on SONY PERU.
The album is doing very well in their native country and I had
the pleasure to do an interview with this great new AOR band from
Peru...
Please introduce us
your band, when did you form ALIADOS and did any of you play in
bands before ALIADOS
Guillermo Bussinger : Well, Aliados was formed about 4 years ago
mainly between Pepe ( Lead Vocals ) and myself. Pepe and I are
close friends since we were 14 or 15 years old. The word ALIADOS
in English means Allyes. This idea came to us due to
the close friendship between us. Marcell Lagos plays the bass,
Chayo Saldarriaga is our Drummer, José Carlos Velasquez on
keyboards, Pepe Gonzalez in lead vocals and I play the guitar.
Chayo used to play for LOS PERROS and I used to Play
on CORBETA BLANCA both AOR music.
Can you tell us all
about your CD ?
José Carlos Velásquez : This is our first album, we are very
proud of it. It demanded a lot of work, about a years work. We
are also very happy because the folks from Sony trusted us.
Fortunately, things are going quiet good with our first
production. The records title is Abre Tu Alma ( Open
Your Soul ), has 9 tracks and was produced by Guillermo and Kike
Robles.
How can people get
a copy of the CD ?
Note for the editor ( you, Gabor ) : Our contract with Sony Music
is only for Perú; we are currently looking for a label to market
our CD in Europe. Gabor, can you help us with that ?.
I hope so, but it's
always hard to convince the labels over here that a band is
really good, but I will definitely help you out. Your music is
80´s AOR / Melodic Rock, which bands influenced you ?
Pepe González : Well, there are plenty of bands, but mainly,
Journey, Def Leppard, Van Halen, Bad English, Giant, Foreigner.
Hows the
scene like in Perú for AOR Music, are there other acts as well
or is ALIADOS the only AOR band and are you popular in Perú ?
Marcell Lagos : The most popular rhythms in Perú and in Latin
America are Salsa, Cumbia, basically what
is called Tropical Music. Although, we respect these
rhythms, its not our stuff!. Fortunately, we have been able to
capture some on the Tropical market with our AOR
music. Therefore, not everybody that enjoys our music are AOR
listeners, but also from other popular musical tendencies. There
are other rock bands locally, but not necessarily AOR music. We
consider ourselves very lucky to be quite popular in Perú; and
we are very happy about it!
Do you have any
contracts with record labels in Europe ?
Guillermo Bussinger : Ah!, Im glad you ask this because for
the moment Sony music only handles our band in Perú; for that
reason we are currently looking for record labels in Europe.
What are the plans
for the next coming months ?
Chayo Saldarriaga : For the moment our schedule is pretty tight!
We play during week days at local pubs in Lima ( our capital city
) such as the Limas Hard Rock Café; and during the
weekends we travel around different cites of Perú. We are also
very happy that we are playing in mid August at Cuzco, some say
its the archaeological capital of Latin America, full of
European and American tourists, we believe that it will be a
great chance to broaden our frontiers. We are also just starting
to be promoted in Chile, Brazil and Ecuador.
Finally, do you
have anything to say to our readers
Guillermo Bussinger : First of all we would like to thank you for
the opportunity of being on your magazine!, we have received
several E-Mails from people that read your magazine!!! And would
like to thank all for theirs words and comments! We hope to
receive more E-Mails and maybe sometime soon we would be publish
our album in Europe, and maybe tour it. Thank you again!!!
