KINCAID
By Nicky Baldrian

Kincaid trio Tron Luttrell, Skip Davis and Bill Kincaid are from Tennessee in the USA, the band are good, good vocals, good guitars and a very tight rhythm section which is completed by drummer Scott Reed. Their debut album "Can't Fight The Need" was produced by Bill and Tron, their music is similar to bands like Bad Company, Sammy Hagar and Journey and Kincaid have released "Can't Fight The Night" independently

"Tron and I have tried to keep Kincaid going like a fine tuned machine." explains Bill Kincaid, Tron Luttrell continues " We both had admired each others ability..so we decided after my band broke up that I would sing with Bill's band, so I did then we made a few other member changes & came up with Kincaid." enter bass player Skip Davis "Kincaid is Tron's and Bill's band".

Tron and Bill have been playing together for almost twenty years "That's a long time in the music buisness" continues Skip "Tron has been in the music buisness for almost forty years, and the list of people he has played with is like a who's who of American southern rock." Bill Kincaid is a pretty well know musician in Tennessee "Everyone knows him, or if they're a musician, they have played with him, Bill and Tron are demanding about their sound, they know what they want , and because of their extensive experience they are generally right." Over the years Kincaid has been through many line up changes, Skip continues "I am proud to follow in the footsteps of some fantastic bass players and to get to work with this band is a legend in this area".

The title track on the album is a result of happenings in Tron's love life "Regardless of how much pain love causes most people, myself included, we always seem to pick ourselves up and try love again because when love is right there there is nothing better so it is a need everyone has. I most definitely do, and I am not going to fight it." explains Tron about "Can't Fight The Need".

The band also share different visions about music for Bill music has many meanings "To me the meaning of music is man and instrument going as one. I think one person can make music...a feeling from their soul that will make you feel like it is 1,000 people performing. The purpose of music is to let man ( or woman) be in state of mind or being that can transcend their own being. How many times have you have heard a song and it has put you into a different

state. You are pissed about something, upset over a relationship.. you hear that one song and everything changes ..even if it is just for a moment.." for Tron he views music as an exit to lifes little problems "It gives people pleasure perhaps for a little while & make them to for awhile forget about their problems..Music is also a way to express myself & perhaps express other peoples feelings for them, plus it is such a rush toROCK!" he enthuses, for Skip it's more of a spiritual element "The people who attend church services want to be moved, music means different things to different people, but the dream remains similar between the two." he preaches ,"Music is like life, rhythmic and cyclic. There is tension, release and flow. The difference is that music is the communication of emotion and life experiences between the musician and the audience." S

kip pauses for a second before continuing "Many times when i'm on stage and the audience is getting in to it, the energy that they send back to me only energizes my performance, which then energizes them, and the whole thing can increase exponentially. To me this manifests itself most at my Sunday churching. On Sundays, I play for the morning and afternoon services at a Pentecostal church. Added movement (walking) or note choice to add tension can bring people out of their seats. This in turn can make the hair on the back of my neck stand up and wants to recieve the messages that are being sent, so they listen to the emotions. In the bars or clubs, sometimes the people are there just to judge our musical ability. The hang on to snicker at mistakes, these people don't hear the music. If the BEATLES were judged just on perfectly played notes, they would be sprely lacking, but thats not why you listen to the BEATLES records. You listen to them to get the emotions that are conveyed in their songs. The BEATLES were great musicians because they understood that the important part of music is the communication of lifes emotions" concludes Skip.

Bill Kincaid started music at a young age "I started banging on stuff when I was a kid.. My dad was a drummer in the high school marching band..Both parents sang in church. I was crazy

about music. I played clarinet in the 3rd grade. I was around music almost 24-7. I don't know if it was my dream but I think deep down I think I was destine to be a STAR..(hah)" says Bill,Troy has always been involved with music and Skip started playing trombone, before moving onto the tuba and eventually the bass "I could read bass clef and the bass notes is what I heard, bass guitar just seemed suited to me. I sold alot of scrap metal to get the money to buy my first bass and have loved it ever since" says Skip.

Kincaid plan to break out of Tennessee "I think for local bands it is a dead-end street" explains Bill "I want to tour, record, play music ALL THE TIME" Tron interrupts "I want to be the best we can be & hopefully touch a lot more people with our music & possibly make some money & gain some recognition for our efforts "

Musically the band are inspired by the likes of Jimmy Barnes, Paul Rodgers, Bon Scott, Steven Tyler, Sammy Hagar, James Brown, Santanna, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, 38 Special, Glenn Hughes/Trapeze and Jimmy Reed. They play live in Tennessee at least once a week "It keeps us working and tight" explains Skip " We play so much I think the band might have to set up an 401k" adds Bill. The band also have a fondness for INXS and the late Stevie Ray Vaughan "Just look at the number of imitators that are out now" shrugs Skip,

They also like there women "onenight at a gig I had three different women I was dating show up and all night long I had to go from girl to girl..pissed all three off and I went Home ALONE" laughs Bill, "I don't like girls who smell like seafood" he concludes with more laughter, Tron once bumped into the girl of his dreams "The band was playing one night and what I thought was the girl of my dreams walked in the club, walked right up to the front of the stage & gave me the LOOK....Then she smiled and to my horror she had summer teeth which quickly made me ill. I am sure your next question is what exactly are summer teeth..well it is means someone who does not have a full compliment of teeth due to poor dental hygiene resulting in some are here, some are missing" he laughs.

As with every country Kincaid hope that the scene will change in their own country "I think groups that feature dance steps and more than one lead singer are the BIG thing right now. But I think as far as rock goes, groups like Kincaid have a place and groups like us with the right promotion will make a comeback when I don't know but hopefully soon" says Bill

Kincaid express their appreciation and would like to urge you all to check into their brilliant album " Please order the cd and get your favorite radio station to play the cd and maybe just maybe.. we will be able to come over and ROCK !PEACE!!!! We also hope that you will also find future offerings just as enjoyable" Get into Kincaid, they ROCK!!!
