lHAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD! HOPE YOU GOT YOUR PRESSIE.
G’day again. Gonna keep saying G’day until I leave. So we get in the car and travel around and set up our tent. Sound very familiar, however the big difference being that while we set up our tent a kangaroo was watching us. A WILD Kangaroo, complete with Joey attachment. Living the Aussie Dream or what. We also went on the hunt for Koalas, we saw one asleep (they sleep 90% of their life) so it’s pretty hard to see them in the wild. However, I’ll briefly brief you on animals spotted thus far……Wombats, Possums, Koalas, Guana (spelt wrong but basically a 2 metre long lizard), Kangaroos, Wallabies, Emus and several species of parrot. These were all in the wild and near our tent. Australia rocks for wildlife. Anyway the massive news and the best part of my journey yet was when we went to an animal sanctuary to see a Platypus. I’ve always loved them, since making a coil pot one at school. Australia is the only place you can see them in or out of captivity. So we get to the sanctuary and I rush through to the Platypus pools and there aren’t any, Stu not wanting me to make a scene and start crying starts frantically looking around and we spot some maintenance guys. I, in my usual style, shout “: where are the Platypus” The guy (called Murray, how Aussie can ya git) says “I’ll show ya Platypus” and takes us to the keepers quarters where in a open tank is a Platypus swimming around. The keeper let us hang around for about an hour, playing and cuddling the Platypus (it was brought in as an orphan) We were sooo lucky. So moral of the story 1) if you don’t ask……….2) men hate hysterical, or nearing hysteria women. We’re in Melbourne at the moment, and on the way here we hunted down the cul-de-sac known as Ramsay Street, yes I did at first look up Ramsay Street in the A to Z and soon realised that wasn’t the actual name.. So we parked the car on Ramsay street and I sat in the middle and had me photo took. I haven’t watched it for ages but it was pretty cool to see the Robinsons house and the one that Lou lived in. We had to be pretty quick about it as people do live there, we ran about like little school kids. Any road…..i love Australia, yeah the people are a bit brash and the weather aint all its cracked up to be but its fab. If you love animals you’ve gotta come here. A bit worrying that Stu is getting into his bird watching (the feathered kind, he’s always watched the other kind) Are we getting that old. We have spent every day with each other for the past 8 months so you can imagine our tolerance for each others annoying habits has worn a little thin. What used to be considered cute and quirky are now grating and long jail sentence worthy. But so far no bruises, scratches or all out wars have occurred. Another point to make is the Australian affliction with speech. I’ll try to demonstrate. The thing with the wombat is that they are nocturnal. Dunno if that gets across but they constantly go up like they are asking a question in the middle of a sentence. Everyone does it and the bugger is that it’s really easy to pick up. We constantly have to listen to ourselves so we don’t pick it up. It’s kinda like student speak but more annoying. Anyway I’ve become annoying waffling on. Sign the guestbook with short messages and email us. Would love some gossip. Caz xxxxx |
