All Right, You're In! Rules, Regs, Homework and Graduating! |

Once a student is enrolled in speech therapy, I will meet with the teacher to arrange a time for pull-out services. The typical amount of time a child is seen for is 2 times a week, 20 minutes each session. As much as possible, I try to put my clients in small groups of similar disabilities, ie, a child who has trouble with his r is in a group of children who also have trouble with their r. Sometimes, due to the child's particular class schedule, this is not always possible, but every effort is made, and I try to avoid pulling students out of their core classes. |
Our class rules are pretty simple: 1. Children are expected to stay in their seats unless otherwise instructed. 2. Raise your hand when you have a question. 3. Try your best and be respectful towards the other children in your group. Making fun of another child's efforts is not allowed. 4. Bring your homework back. Homework is extremely important because it helps the child to remember concepts or sounds taught in therapy. Many of my students tend to forget their sounds or words between sessions unless they do some "reminder" work with their parents. |
You, as the parent, will be kept informed of your child's progress in therapy through progress reports. |

When the problem is fixed, your child graduates from therapy. |
