2.9   Achillies--JD tries to stop a bank robbery and in the process kills an innocent woman.  The guys find out that some dude named Achilles knows the bank robbers and might be behind the robbery.  Also, Vin wants to enter a poetry contest in Mary's paper.  In the process of the show, we find out that Vin can't read or write and Ezra is an ass to him.  Meanwhile, Ezra plays a high-stakes card game with a really good cheater and ends up losing his...um...let's just say the outfit he ends up wearing in this episode is the stuff of BrigaDear legends.
My Favorite Lines:

         1.) "You, sir, have violated me."--Ezra, after being out cheated

          ACHILLES: First time you killed somebody?
          JD: First time I killed a woman.
          ACHILLES: That's different?
          JD: She was innocent. Would you mind not sittin' on her casket?
          ACHILLES: Don't get so ornery, pup. All I'm saying is killin' is killin'. Man? Woman? What's the difference when you think about it? Animals kill all the time. You think an ol' hoot owl thinks twice whether he got a--a boy mouse or a girl mouse?
          JD: That's different.
          ACHILLES: You just ain't a killer, that's all. When I was your age, during the war, I got used to killing. I killed men, killed women, you know.
          JD: Now, I heard you were a war hero.
          ACHILLES: Guess it depends on which side you're on. One side said we was heroes. I reckon the people from Missouri don't believe that Achilles Thompson is a hero. Hmm.
          JD: Where'd you get a name like that?
          ACHILLES: My pa. He loved stories about ancient Greece. He named me Achilles, after the bravest, strongest warrior to ever fight in the Trojan War. Couldn't hurt him. You see, this mother had dipped him in this magic river... made him invulnerable. Yeah, I used to think it was just a story. Come to realize... that I'm the same as him. I can't be killed. You like your coffee?
          JD: Yeah.
          ACHILLES: Nice talkin' to you, pup.
Yeah Buddy!!!!!!!!!

2.10   Lady Killers--Two women bounty hunters come to town and raise hell.  One tries to seduce JD, pissing off Casey.  One has a thing about ropes and preachers.  JD gets shot, the girls lie to our boys, and Ezra impersonates a lawyer.  This episode is great if you can get past the fact that it's a bit confusing.
My Favorite Lines:

          1.) "We thought about being wives and mothers,
but half of them get beat, and the other half die in childbirth.

        2.) "You know... I do like to look at women. I can't deny
it. I like to touch 'em, too. I love the shape and the smell of 'em...

My Favorite Scene:   {this scene makes me cry}

          JOSIAH: I know you don't want me around, so I'll just leave this here with you. Peace, I leave with you. My peace I give unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. [squeak][cell door closes]
          MATTIE: Am I going to hell?
          JOSIAH:Well, now, some people think that hell is just a state of mind.
          MATTIE: But hell's for people who've sinned.
          JOSIAH: Well, there's always redemption for a sinner.
          MATTIE: [sighs] I'm scared, preacher.
          JOSIAH: That man on the stagecoach that you killed... and JD... you think they were scared?
          MATTIE: [sniffles] I never thought about it.
          JOSIAH: Well, think about it. Maybe that will be your path to redemption.
          MATTIE: Will you say a prayer with me?
          JOSIAH: You got one in mind?
          MATTIE: I like the one about the Lord being a shepherd.
          JOSIAH: The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.  He maketh me to lie down in green pastures.
          BUCK: JD I'm so sorry.
          JOSIAH: He leadeth me beside the still waters.  He restoreth my soul.
          BUCK: I'm so sorry.
          JOSIAH:  He guideth me on the paths of virtue for his name's sake.  Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil.  Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies.  Thou anointest my head with oil.  My cup runneth over.  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life...
          DEL: Hyah!
          JOSIAH: And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord... forever.
          CASEY: JD
          JD: I thought... I thought I was gonna die before I had a chance to say that.. I'm sorry. And--and... and how much I care about you.
          CASEY: Shh shh shh.
