4/14/02- An overwhelming success, our Personal Assistant Auction raised $400.00 for St. Jude Children's Hospital. That brings us to a year's total at $800.00. This total is $200.00 higher than the amount we raised last year, and this is only our second year. This is an event to be proud of. Thank you to the students and teachers who participated in the event, as well as the people who rented them out for a day. I also want to take this moment to remember the person who inspired this club, Geoff Laverty, two years after his death. Please click the link below and go to the page celebrating his life.
3/7/02- Students Helping Others decided to try something besides the typical candy sale, so we are going to have a Rent-a-Personal-Assistant event. Thank you to all of the people who are donating their time for this event. Hopefully, this will become a viable alternative to a candy sale as a fundraiser.
12/16/01- Thanks to everyone who helped out for the candy sale. We did a great job and exceeded our expectations. After our first fundraiser, we raised $400. The money will go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Tennessee. Thank you everyone!
10/31/01- Great news. Our website now can be accessed from Chadwick's website because of a new link here. Thank Mr. Cass for that one! Happy Halloween!
10/22/01- We have picked our cause for the 2001-2002 year. We will donate the money we make to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. It is one of the world's top children's hospitals and focuses primarily on pediatric cancers.
10/3/01- Well, I've created a new logo this year. We are having a meeting on Thursday, October 4. I want to try and to incorporate more community service into the coming year. Maybe do a few walks or volunteer things. It should be fun.
5/22/01- After a successful year, we have finally accumulated the finances for the year. We donated all $592.25 to www.netaid.org to help the fight against AIDS. Half of the money went to the Education and Skills Training Kit, which helps impoverished children from AIDS-affected families return to school and the Business Startup Kit for Mothers, which helps families that have lost the father-figure to AIDS to generate income to support themselves.
4/17/01- The candy sale is scheduled for April 23-27. We hope to have a good turnout and help those people in Africa. Note: If anyone misses their shift, they will be publicly humiliated.
4/9/01- Due to the cold weather, our car wash is canceled, and we're going to have a candy sale.
3/15/01- We will have a car wash on Friday, April 13, 2001 at Chadwick. We will work during the boys' volleyball game in order to bring more traffic to the wash.
2/17/01- Finals have passed and during President's Day Weekend, the three officers will be making rounds around the area in order to search for funds and raffle items.
1/17/01- We are on hold until after finals, but after that, we are planning to have two more fundraisers- a raffle and a car wash.
10/15/00- We just finished our first candy sale and it was a success. Congrats people!
9/11/00- The first day of Chadwick for the juniors has arrived and so has the first day of this club. There is a meeting at lunch on 9/14 in Miss LaCotera's Room in the language building.
6/13/00- Tree and Awards was today. It was so touching- all those teachers and students being recognized. Plus, we all got our yearbooks. The theme? 360 Degrees. A shoutout to Tiffany.
6/5/00- So far, Students Helping Others is still in the formation stage. This website is still under construction and the school year hasn't started, so Students Helping Others has not yet started either.
