As described in previous sections (School Opening: Creating Community, Whole School Activities, and Classroom Activities) staff members at Blakeburn use the performance standards are widely and systematically.

• All teachers have used the performance standards to evaluate student behaviour twice during this school year (October and April.) They also report using the performance standards to support their reports to parents; an examination of a sample of report cards confirmed this use.

• All classrooms have been provided with “Social Responsibility Rating Cards” which they report using for a variety of activities, most often integrated with literature.

• The principal routinely uses the social responsibility standards as part of school-wide gatherings; she also spends some time systematically teaching social responsibility in each classroom in the school.

• The standards are used as part of the behaviour support for students who are having difficulty (not yet meeting expectations.)

• Teachers have provided a wide variety of sample classroom activities and student work that confirm that the performance standards are being widely and systematically used.
