Johnny Rodriguez
The San Antonio composer and performing artist
will present his solo ritual performance preceded by an all-star collaborative
realization of David Means’ 1992 video score, “Fractal Time/Forms”, with video
wall and graphics assisted by Johnny Rodriquez, who joins the Nobles
eXperimental interMedia Group (Doug Christiansen, Mary Garvie, Roxanne Gregory,
Wade Kolata, David Means and Marlene Tupy)
Johnny Rodriguez is renowned for his ritualistic solo performance pieces which
draw heavily on his cultural identity with the Texas borderlands. He has performed collaboratively with Texas
musicians and ensembles including Pulse, Daddy Monkey and Psuedo Buddha, and in
Minnesota with David Means’ environmental performance installations “Cannon
River Wave/Forms” (1992) and “Stanton Airfield Land/Forms” (1994). He was a
guest artist at the Strange Attractors III Festival in November 1999, and Strange Attractors VII in November 2001.
