GIFT

It's not about having at most about getting.
I alone, the one who doesn't talk,
but with you I can be silent

About what was and never goes by
About my father. About a past wife
About how losing can be enriching

Like a child who takes it first steps
It's not about holding him fast, but about
would I let him go? and watch for a very long time


CADEAU

Het gaat niet over hebben, hooguit over krijgen
Alléén ben ik degene die ooit praat,
maar met jou kan ik zwijgen

Over wat voorbij is en nooit overgaat
Over mijn vader. Over een vroegere vrouw
Over hoe verliezen kan verrijken

Neem een kind dat zijn eerste stappen zet
Het gaat niet over hem vasthouden, maar over-zou
ik?-loslaten en lang kijken.
