The course will begin in Antigua and Guatemala City followed by four
        days in Quiche. In Guatemala City, participants will visit with individuals
        and organizations prominent in the war and afterward. In Quiche,  a key
        location for the revolutionary movement of the 1960s-1980s, the group will
        meet with church organizers and with ex-combatants from both the
        guerrillas and military, to gain an appreciation for the roots of the conflict
        and how it played out at the community level.

        Also in Quiche, participants will spend a day walking the footpaths that
        connect small communities of resettled people in remote areas around
        Nebaj and will meet with numerous communities of resettled guerrilla
        combatants, soldiers and civil patrol members. Participants may also
        visit a farm granted by the government to demobilized guerrillas.
 
        Participants seeking university credits will be given requiered readings and
        will do a final presentation and paper on what they learned. Proficiency in
        Spanish is not a requirement.

        Tution includes fees for professor and lectures, transportation, food, and
        lodging while in Quiche. It does not include airport transfers, lodging and
