YI-337 Methodology I

OBJECTIVES:

1. Students will build upon their background knowledge about current methods, techniques and materials in ELT, and will be  encouraged to evaluate critically the principles upon which they are based.
2. Students will be able to appreciate and use alternative ways of structure, vocabulary and pronunciation and critical evaluation of their
relevance to and possibilities for different contexts.
3. Students will be provided guidance and supportfor the exploration of the roles and potential of the teacher and learner, the strategies
and  management of the teacher, and the creative ways in which relevant materials can be developed for classroom use.
4. Students will be able to plan, present and evaluate alternative methods, techniques and materials.
5. Students will be able to plan, present and evaluate alternative methods, techniques and materials.
6. Students will be encouraged individually for conceptual development through research projects, observation, classroom presentation, self-evaluation   and reflection.



COURSE EVALUATION:

Mid-term:                                30%
Project and Presentation:   20%
Final:                                       50%

Minimum requirement for attendance is 70%. It is students’ own responsibility to keep a record of their own attendance. Those failing to meet this requirement cannot be allowed to take the final examination.


PROJECT:  

Students are required to prepare a complete Grammar Unit Plan with suplementary materials.

PRESENTATION SUBJECTS:

Students are free to choose their own micro-teaching topic.
