This Island you named Malta, was miss-interpreted by the Pheonicians when stumbled upon it 4000 years ago.  They read the name on the bottom of the statue of a falcon from right-to-left.  The statue had some damage on the name and Atlan looked [to them] like Atlam. When I was first shown this picture I recognized the remains of the entrance to Atlas's home.
