Career
   Began work mainly in clerical roles for regional and federal government departments in Canada from 1986 to 1994 whilst a university student. Changed to social work and did training placements as a counselling social worker from 1992 to 1994. Relocated to the UK in 1995 to work as a children and families social worker. Took a break to teach English in The Czech Republic from 1998 to 2000. Returned to the UK in 2001 to train and qualify as a Registered Mental Health Nurse. Currently, working as a senior social worker in mental health older people.

In a long-term relationship with Roy, a gardening enthusiast and occupational therapist
