“You shouldn’t provoke Percy, you know.” Harry said, and it was much later that night. He always liked to talk about the day that has just passed as he lay in bed, sweaty and spent. It was a habit that had recently started to get under Draco’s skin as during the day he spent his time running after criminals and then during the night trying to get out the tension and lust he’d built up from watching Harry do the same... all he wanted to do was curl up, and using Harry’s arm as his pillow, get some sleep. But if losing a few minutes of sleep at night to talk was the only price he needed to pay to stay with Harry, it was well worth it. He rolled over to face his lover, wiping back both the hair and the sleep from his eyes.

“And why’s that, luv?” he asked, trying to force some general interest into his voice. It wasn’t easy, because he knew whatever answer he was given it wouldn’t be good enough. Percy Weasley was just another busy body who didn’t like to watch when his own order’s were carried out because he didn’t have the stomach for it. Despite that, Harry gave him a pretty decent challenge to argue with.

“Because he pays our salaries, Draco.” Harry said, frowning and picking at a lose thread from the bed. “And he has a point. You know as well as I do that if we actually capture people that they can have information on where to find others. You’ve simply wasted the last four we captured.” But it wasn’t just the money, he had to tell himself. Or the potential of new captures. Draco’s pension for the Avada Kervada spell was beginning to worry him on a much deeper level.

Draco snorted angrily, and Harry recognized the danger sign. He knew he shouldn’t press the subject too far if he didn’t want to sleep alone tonight, but he also knew that it was important and that he had a good point. “At least promise me next time unless were in real danger you’ll just knock them out, all right.” Draco stirred, and Harry could tell he wasn’t ready to go along with that, so he continued on before Draco could retort. “At least until we’ve had time to interrogate them.”

After a pause, Draco sighed. “Sure thing, luv,” he said, glad that the debate of the night was settled for the moment. He rolled over, and noticing with a frown the absence of Harry’s usual arm, sighed and slowly pushed his head down into his pillow. Under the new situation it took him quite a while longer to drift off to sleep, and he could tell from the uneven breath coming from beside him that he wasn’t the only one still awake.
