[Yet another SnapexHermione fic.  This MST has a special guest Professor
Snape!  On with the Deep Hurting! [5 bucks to anyone who gets that.]

C>  After Devastation

This story starts the night before the Dream Team's graduation. It briefly
covers the three years Hermione is at College and then goes right into
Hermione being a Professor.

Draco: Briefly.  Oh goody.  This means whole years will summed in sentences.
Snape: Why am I here again?
Harry: For some reason Icz likes you.  Suck it up.

She and Severus had a relationship while she was still at school but they
lost touch while she was at the University. Severus is upset. Hermione is
upset. Will they ever remember how much they love each other deep down inside?

Hermione: No
Snape: God I hope not!
Draco: Honestly brainiac and captain bitterness?  Who comes up with these

Written By: Severus' Fair Maiden

Snape: [twitch]
Ron: There's a fangirl name if I ever heard one.

Author's Note: I will try very hard to write this quickly and to update with
some kind of regularity. This is a prologue. I will apologize in advance for
anyone of the character's being OOC.

Enjoy. </c>

Harry: I can assure you we won't

Hermione ran down to the dungeons. It was the night before her graduation.
She had to see Severus one last time before she left him for three years. She
would attend Nuntius; University for the magically gifted. She saw the
painting of Salazar Slytherin near the potions classroom and tapped the stone
two stones away from the painting with her wand. The wall opened and allowed
her into Severus Snape's office after she muttered the obvious password,
"Slytherin"

Snape: First there is no painting of Slytherin anywhere in the school.
Second you can be damn sure my passwords are much less stupid.

Severus sat as his desk. He looked up and saw Hermione. He didn't smile. He
didn't say anything. Hermione knew he was upset. He didn't want her to leave
him. She wasn't happy about it either. Severus just stared at her. He stood
and walked to the fire. He stared at it for a while before Hermione said
anything.

Snape: Very action packed.
Harry: Yes he stared, then stared, the stared some more.
Draco: The mans gonna detach his retnas if he doesn't stop.

"I'm sorry, Sev," She whispered softly.

Snape: Granger..never call me that.
Hermione: If I do Harry and Ron will make sure I'm dead before I hit the
ground.

He turned and looked at her. He saw the tear on her cheek. His heart went out
to her. He realized she was hurting just as much as he was. It wasn't fair of
him to ignore her. He wanted these last hours to be wonderful. He didn't know
if he would ever see her again. Severus walked towards her and wrapped his
arms around her waist. He kissed away the solitary tear on her cheek.

Draco: And then the police to arrest him for statatory rape.
Harry: Remember just state what's going on.  Don't give any sort of
description at all.

"I love you, Hermione."

Snape: AAAAAAAAAH!
Hermione: I second that.  AAAAAAAAAH!

"I love you too. I promise I'll write everyday. Maybe I will even be able to
apparate to Hogsmeade for dinner. I- I won't lose you. I couldn't bear that.
Will you promise not to forget me," she asked.

Draco: Will the real Hermione Granger please stand up!
Snape: I don't I could forget this with a lobotomy!

"I could never do that, ever. I will do everything in my power to see you as
often as possible."

Severus was scared. There would be a lot of younger men at the University
Hermione was going to attend. Hermione was a very beautiful young girl and
there was no doubt that a lot of those young men would be attracted to his
Hermione. He didn't know if Hermione loved him enough to not be tempted by
those boys. Severus knew he would die of sadness if he lost Hermione. She was
his entire life. It would have been easier for him to cut off his limbs than
it would be to lose her.

Snape: I'd cut off my limbs right now if it meant this fic would end!
Harry: How long has this been going on?  Why wasn't Snape arrested.
Ron: Yet again with the total lack of description.

"I want you to promise me you won't fall in love with anybody at that
University. I couldn't live with that. If you fell in love with a younger man
I'd die."

Snape: Actually I wouldn't care.

"I promise I won't. I couldn't love anyone as much as I love you."

"Are you sure?" He asked uncertainly.

Harry: Is there any reason why the 30 odd year old professer sounds like and
insucure 15 year girl?

"Why are you so worried about this? I love you more than anything. I promise
I won't ever do anything to hurt you."

"Why am I worried? Hermione I am twenty-five years your senior. I'm an old
unattractive, unpleasant Potions Master. I don't have anything that younger
men don't!" He said as he started to get angry.

Snape: "I don't have anything that younger men don't"?
Draco: Don't think about that sentence for more than five minutes or blood
will shoot out your nose.

"Severus! I wouldn't care if you were a  hundred  years my senior. You have
given me everything I have ever wanted and so much. I'm not going to forget
that. And what do you mean you are old and unattractive. I think you are very
handsome. As for being unpleasant, you may be such a person to some, but to
me you are wonderful. Now kiss me and tell me you love me before I have to
go."

Hermione: Must control urge to vomit!
Snape: I can assure I have no interest in girls young enough to be my
daughther!
Draco: And are bossy know-it-alls?
Snape That too.

Severus bent down to kiss her. She wrapped her arms around his neck as she
felt her knees go weak. She always had that reaction when he kissed her.

Harry: Probaly form the posion on his lips.

Severus reluctantly broke off the kiss. Hermione turned to go but he grabbed
her hand. He led her to the couch in front of the fire. She sat down and laid
her head down on his chest. He stroked her hair and kissed her brown head.
Hermione soon fell asleep. Severus left her on the couch, where she often
slept and retired to bed himself.

Snape: What books has this person been reading!

*~*~*

Hermione woke up to see Severus' dark eyes looking into hers, "Good morning,
Love," he said.

Harry: AAAH!  Pod Person!

Hermione smiled, but then remembered what day it was. She had to get dressed.
She kissed Severus goodbye and told him she would see him after the ceremony.
Hermione first had to eat breakfast and then she had to catch the train her
parents were coming on. (a/n: I know muggles can't see Hogworts but just
forget that fact for now) As Head Girl Hermione had to give a speech that she
needed to finishing touches on. Of course she needed go to the ceremony.
Hermione ran up to her private bedroom to change her robes before her busy
final day at Hogworts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry started.

Draco: Oh good more lets ignore cannon for the sake of our story.
Hermione: I'm so glad they talked about me eating breakfast and getting
dressed.
Harry: It's so important to the story.

*~*~*

After the ceremony Hermione stayed and talked with her parents and
Professors. She noticed, however, that Severus was gone. She pretended not to
notice. When the train was leaving to take visitors home, Hermione told her
parents that she would find other means of transportation.

Snape: So you noticed but acted like you didn't...
Harry: Head hurting...

"Oh, but Hermione dear, we have so much catching up to do," her mother
pleaded.

"I have some last minute things I have to do, mum. I will be at home by the
time you get there. On the train it will take you half a day. With my way it
will take a few seconds. I don't have a choice. I have to do these things.
I'll see you when you get home."

Hermione: It's amazing how you can use so many words to say absolutly nothing.

Hermione turned around and pretended not to hear her mother and father call
her name.

Ron: Wow you pretend a lot!
Hermione: How would you deal with dating Snape?

Hermione had to go see Severus just one last time. She followed the same
route she had the previous night. Hermione knew exactly where Severus would
be. He would sit in his office doing nothing but sipping a bottle of Fire
Whiskey. Hermione knew that he had a healthy supply of alcohol for times like
these. Hermione didn't approve, but she didn't voice her opinions. She knew
Severus would take care of himself and that he didn't do it often.

Hermione: So I don't like to voice my opinions..
Harry: How in character is that?
Ron: This from the girl who wanted Harry to give the Maruaders Map to
Mcgongall.

She opened the wall/door and walked straight into his office. He didn't
notice she was there. Sure enough the bottle was in his hand.

Snape: Though it's not clear how the two are remotly related.

"Sev, put the bottle down. I need to talk to you."

Snape: Stop calling me Sev you ignorant bint!

Hermione sat down on the green couch next to him. She sighed. This would be
hard. It was her final goodbye to him for three years. It would be horrible.
She could no longer see him every day. Already the tears threatened to fall.
Hermione rested her head on his shoulders. She sighed again and then started
talking.

Hermione: God the utter pointlessness of these descriptions....

"I'm going to write you from home tonight. I fully expect an owl to be at my
window by morning," Hermione started lightly, "I really will miss you,
Sevvie. I know that three years sound like a horribly long time. And it is
especially when you are away from the only person who really understands you.
I want you to know that you are my one and only. No one,  no one  knows me
like you do. I tell you everything. I'm going to find a way to see you
though. I'd be lost without you. Are you going to be here this summer, love?"

Hermione: Did I contract one of those brain eating viruses?  Why are we
simpering like this?
Harry: Sevvie?

"Yes. My manor would be empty without anyone but myself there. When I took
you there for Christmas it was so much nicer. I'd be haunted with memories."

Draco: Instead of ghosts?

"All right then. I'm going to come here tomorrow, so don't plan on having
dinner with anyone else."

They were both silent for a while. "I guess that is one advantage of being a
witch. I can come and go as I please. But when the term starts I won't. I'm
sure I'll be studying. Maybe I'll give up a few hours to see you. All right?
Does that make you feel better?"

Snape: It's nice that the love of your life is so high on your priorites.

"A little. But, Love, I'm still going to miss you."

"I'll miss you every minute of everyday, but I'm going to try to come see you
every night. To hell with what my parents want. I'm technically nineteen
years old. I'm an adult. I can do what I want and what I want is to be with
you as much as I can. It's not like it won't be hard enough during the school
year." Suddenly the tears Hermione had been trying so valiantly to keep at
bay came pouring down her face. She sobbed onto Severus' shoulder.

Draco: This isn't a relationship it's an unhealthy obessision.

He held her closer to him and stroked her hair. He thought that it was
amazing that he was not crying. Earlier he thought that Hermione was casting
him aside, but now he knew that she really would miss him. It would be hell,
Severus knew, to be away from the person who held his heart.

Harry: In a jar on her desk.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Sev, I didn't mean to cry. I really didn't. Now I've
probably made you feel worse, haven't I?"

Snape: Actually I feel better.

Severus almost laughed. That was Hermione all right. Always worried about
someone else, "No, Ginger, you haven't. And there isn't any reason to
apologize. Now, hush." When Hermione wasn't quiet Severus muffled her sobs
with his lips.

Hermione: Oh god!  My Eyes!
Snape: My lips!
Harry: My mind!

*~*~*

Hermione made her promised visits. Even during the school year she wasted
precious study time at Hogworts with Severus. It was only after Christmas
with Severus in her third year that things started to get shaky. It wasn't
because she didn't love him. She knew she loved Severus. Hermione even knew
that she would eventually marry him when the time was right. It wasn't
because Severus didn't love her. It was because of that infernal university.

Snape: So it's the universities fault your an obessisive bookworm?
Draco: Let just be happy the relationship is failing.

Hermione was a wonderful student. She was top of her class just like Severus
and her parents knew she would be. But her teachers kept doing the same
things to her that Severus had done. They gave extra assignments. Extra
assignments that were one hundred times harder than anything Severus had ever
given her. He understood. He hated that she couldn't see him and that he
couldn't see her but he understood. With Hermione, schoolwork always came
first. Even on their first dates Severus was doing her homework with her
before they had a chance to talk.

Snape: If I was stupid enough to date a student I wound not help them with
schoolwork.

One day Severus decided that he would surprise Hermione with a visit. There
was a feast that night that Severus did not want to attend.

Ron: Different from the other feasts where they showered him with gifts.

What better excuse to visit Hermione. He walked to Hogsmeade and then
apparated to Hermione's dorm room. He expected to see her at her desk with a
huge old tome in front of her but he was unpleasantly surprised. There was a
very handsome younger man in the room. He couldn't quite make out what
Hermione was saying to him but when he leaned over and kissed her, Severus
had had enough. He walked into sight and said, "Well, if that is how you feel
Miss Granger " and apparated back to Hogsmeade.

Harry: There's the way to deal with your relationship problems.
Snape: So seeing just kiss another man is reason for me dumping her?
Draco: You want to date her?

When Severus disappeared Hermione screamed. "SEVERUS! WAIT!" She wailed even
after he was gone. Then she turned around and slapped the man who had just
kissed her.

Hermione: Instead of turning to the other six people in the room who weren't
menitioned.

"You, David Mitchell, have just quite possibly ruined my life. Get! Out! Now!
If you ever come back I swear to God you'll be a dead man." When David didn't
move Hermione pointed her finger at the door and shouted, "Go to hell you
fucking bastard!" At that he quickly left the room.

Draco: Oooh curse words!
Ron: real manly man there.

After he left Hermione apparated to Hogsmeade. She ran. She could see Severus
robes billowing behind him in the distance as he walked to Hogworts. She
called after him, but he didn't turn around. He walked quickly into his
chambers. He went directly to his wine cabinet and pulled out  two  unopened
bottles of Fire Whiskey.

Draco: He walked from Hogsmead to Hogwarts?  And manged to avoid Hermione at
the same time?
Harry: Professor Snape is.. The Flash!

Author's Note: Well, that's it for this chappie! I hope you liked it. As
always REVIEW REVIEW REVIEW. THANX FOR READING. I'LL POST SOON!!!!!!!!!!

Harry: that's chapter.

Harry: Final thoughts?

Snape: boring, undescriptive, and majorly out of character.
Hermione: I second.
Draco: It was funny watching these two have brain spasms.
