THE HISTORY OF THE SUBARU OWNERS CLUB OF AUSTRALIA REGISTRY
Hello my name is Slade Yuille the founder of the Subaru Owners Club of Australia Registry, I am a motoring sportsman that has a love for Subaru’s for many years and has owned quite a few Subaru’s, including a 1976 DL 1400 Station Wagon, 1976 1600 Coupe, 1988 Subaru GT MK2 4WD Touring Wagon that has won over 200 various awards for best 4WD vehicle display, 8th Australian Top Street Machine, and many other awards far too many to mention, I also represented Australia in Anaheim California USA in 1997 with my 1988 Subaru GT MK2 4WD Touring Wagon to assist the Lions International Club of Anaheim California USA in raising money for Charity. A 1985 Subaru GT Mk1 2WD 1800 Loyal Sedan that was the property of the New Zealand Police Department and now a 1984 EA 81 Subaru AWD 1800 Touring Wagon.
I decided that although there are quite a few 4WD clubs that are based in Victoria and Australia it was about time for a change and one where there where no continuing Membership or Club Fees to be incurred, as the cost of buying that Subaru wasn’t enough and all the extra accessories that you needed to buy.
A good friend of mine Robert Thoma of Rob’s Car Art in Warburton Victoria suggested some (6) years ago as you seem to have a love for the Subaru and you have had a great success as a Motoring Sportsman, you should start up your own Subaru Car Club Registrar but with a difference and one where there was no continuing Membership or Annual Fees and was open to all model Subaru’s from all eras of 2WD’s and 4WD’s.
The S.O.C.O.A.R. seek members from anywhere in Australia and the world who wish to have fun and the enjoyment of owning and operating their Subaru both on and off road, you can meet other Subaru owners in person or by the use of the World Wide Web and email from members from around the world.
We have members via New and Used Subaru Dealers the internet and emails from: Australia, USA, Norway, England, Hawaii, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Turkey, Greece, Spain, Mexico, Sweden and Italy, with more countries to follow.
The S.O.C.O.A.R. will keep you informed of interesting items such as: Automotive parts, accessories, ideas, Interesting Articles From Around The World About Subaru’s, newsletters, maintaining your Subaru, recovery equipment, first aid equipment, mechanical education, conservation, Subaru email help line, selling or buying a Subaru, Subaru owners stories, information and ideas from other Subaru owners, Subaru clubs from around the world, Subaru help line from Subaru dealers in Australia and the world.
The Subaru Owners Club of Australia Registry is based in Melbourne Victoria Australia, and is set up for the serious and not so serious Subaru owner.
