2 / 4 STARS
DIRECTOR: ARJUN
ACTORS: ARJUN, VINITH
ACTRESSES: SAKSHI SIVANAND, DIVYA UNNI
MUSIC DIRECTOR: VIDYASAAGAR
STORYLINE:
Vijay (Arjun) is a man on the road when he happens to see Sanjay
(Vinith) in trouble with some rowdies. He helps him by fighting
them off, and Sanjay invites him home.
Once at Sanjay's house, Vijay discovers that Sanjay and his wife,
Anita (Divya Unni), are estranged (though they live in the same
house), and Vijay presumes to reunite them.
COMMENTS:
I'm thankful for one thing -- Arjun, a marvellous actor, is
aspiring to more than just simple action movies. He's trying
his hand at romance and more serious plots. Granted, Vedham
has about seven too many fights, but the storyline itself is
not action-oriented.
The leads act well, and Arjun gives another down-to-earth
performance after the masterful "Rhythm." While this film is
nowhere near as good, it's still okay.
The film's plot is a bit meandering, and Arjun's flashbacks
do their job, but not well enough. I would have liked a simpler
less sentimental ending.
This is the story of how one man changes the life of others,
without them knowing what sacrifices he is making for their
sake. It's a very nice try, Arjun; you're improving, and I
hope that trend continues.
Visu appears in what can be considered a cameo (just as he did
in Arjun's previous "Vaanavil.")
NOTE ON THE MUSIC:
A few nice tunes, but there's a few too many songs in the film
as well. My favorite songs are "Malai Kaatru" (which reminded me
of "Malarae" from "Karnan" for some reason), "Hey Meena Logini,"
and some others.
RECOMMENDATION:
Watch it on video.
