sadism
Enjoying causing pain to another.  And to clarify for S/some of Y/you people in BDSM don't enjoy inflicting pain just to do it.  It's usually done to make someone else feel good.

masochism
The enjoyment of receiving pain.  But there is a difference in pain for those that are just learning about all of this.  There is pain that just happens and there is erotic pain.

erotic pain
Alot of people in the lifestyle learn to enjoy the pain.  There is a place in their minds that they change the pain to something that turns them on.  Possibly as a part of foreplay for some.
