Air Buns

1/2 Cup Lukewarm water
1 tsp white granulated sugar
1 package yeast ( 1 tablespoon)
1/2 cup sugar

1 tsp Salt
2 tablespoons vinegar
1/2 cup lukewarm water
8 - 10 cups flour

Combine first three ingredients and let rise for 10 minutes.

In a large saucepan, combine 1/2 cup sugar, lard, salt, vinegar and 3 1/2 cups lukewarm water. Add softened yeast. Gradually add flour.

Knead until dough feels springy and elastic

Cover and let rise for 2 hours or until doubled in volume. Knead down. Let rise another hour. Knead down dough and divide among greased pans; make buns the size of crabapples.

Cover and let rise until very light about 3 hours.

Bake at 375F fpr 15 to 20 minutes or until nicely browned.
