Beta Area 51: Infiltration

Actual beta screenshots

It says in N64 magazine 22 (as scanned by Chris), that Joanna had to escape the AK47-toting Roswell aliens in what looks to be the same level. It wasn't infiltration but a type of extraction. According to IGN, Joanna would go through this part, sneak in through the entrance lower down, and grab Elvis from the guards. Seems like Rescue was part of this mission, although you came in a much quicker route.

There were also good aliens and bad aliens. Some who helped, some who hampered.

In the beginning of the level, the guards seem to look like the guard who carries double MagSecs.

Two hoverbikes in the level! And they're inside the main gate. Perhaps this was early in development when co-op was first implemented.

The main gate is gone, and hoverbike starts in that area.

In the beta version, Joanna would rescue Elvis and then the entire Roswell aliens would come to prevent this. See the below picture to see them fire at Joanna.

The aliens attacked her as she made her way in. Some aliens were good, some were bad.

Not Elvis.

Here the turret is gone. This is the worst, most frustrating turret in the game, so they must have decided to make the level more difficult.

No robot intercepters in the stalls. Even when they are destroyed, they still remain.

No door and you can go into the Bunker. You can still do that now, but you need to get a guard to open it.

Inside the area are guards and a small room. This is Joanna's exit in Escape if she takes the hoverbike out. Maybe she entered through here in the beta version. Definately no guards here in final version after they storm out.

More into the area. After this, Joanna would pick up Elvis, probably at the same spot as before.

A later picture in which Jonathan signals Joanna later than usual. She is usually signaled in the elevator.

Probably from the Area 51 infiltration, this wall may have been in some hard to reach place as a surprise. But I guess they left it out.
