My experience in the 4th Annual
Youth summit:
The 4th Annual Youth Summit was held this year at
the China Hall of Science & technology, Beijing, China. Simultaneously, was
also held the 7th Annual
IEARN International Conference at the same venue.
At the I*EARN Youth Summit, Standing from left to right,
Ms. Sarah Lucas, Subhodeep Sarker, Ms. Radha Blackman
and Mr. Peter Patrao
As this was my first conference, I
earned a very good experience and came to know about what an International
conference is. The IEARN or the International Education and Resource Network
mainly aims at creating a global community through the media of internet, which
would greatly help unite different nationalities and solving world disputes.
In this years conference there were
more than 600 delegates from over 68 countries who participated in this mega event. Practically the youth summit
that were being held everyday during the week starting from 10th
July, 2000 were one of the biggest youth gatherings ever to be hosted during
the entire history of the planet.
The main objectives of the 4th
Annual Summit was to fulfill the dreams
of the legendary Albert Enstein. Before he died Dr.Albert Einstein had
suggested to the world that to solve
all the existing problems all around the world, there should be (1) a
global youth parliament and (2) global spirituality. And it is here where IEARN
comes to play a major role. This
organization mainly helps in providing the youth all around the globe with a
stable platform where they can exchange their views and innovative ideas with
people of different nationalities.
The
IEARN has under its purview an enormous number of projects that are based on
environment, social issues, cultural diversity, knowledge and so on. During the
entire youth summit, this year there had been very intense discussions on some
of the most hot topics of the world today. Some of them were related to child
labour, child prostitution, wars, international disputes, nuclear
non-proliferation and pollution.
During
this summit what I have learnt is that we should try to integrate this kinds of
activities into out school curriculum as this would help in giving the students
a very good International exposure at a young age. This has especially become
very inevitable as the world is fast advancing in todays internet age. But yes,
until and unless the awareness of this incredibly wonderful organization, IEARN
is spread in the remote areas of the poor and developing nations it has a huge
milestone ahead of it.
The stimulating experience in the IEARN youth summit has
prompted me to undertake an useful project on
environment. My project tiltle
is, Pollution: A
Menace Posed by Mankind
