Co-Extrusion of Foam Core Composite

The seven layer co-extrusion line consisted of two 2.5" diameter single screw extruders followed by gear pump and static mixer and two 1.25" diameter single screw extruders. Plasticated materials from the extruders meet at the feed block and travel to the 34" wide sheet die. 12" diameter temperature controlled three stack rolls were used for polishing the sheet. On-line thickness gauge measured the sheet thickness distribution and displays the web thickness distribution on the computer screen. High density foam core composites were produced using this line with chemical blowing agents. The line was also equipped with central dehumidifying resin drier which could be used for moisture sensitive materials like polyesters and polyamides. PET and Polypropylene foam core composites were successfully produced in this line. I have installed, managed and operated this line between 1995 and 2004.
