SUBMERGE FANZINE AND RECORD LABEL HISTORY Welcome to Submerge Records. I started the fanzine in 1989. Around this time I was working at The Marquee in London's Charing Cross Rd and I was going to a lot of gigs so it seemed like the right time to put a fanzine together. At the time I didn't realise just how many freebies I would get...free records, t-shirts, gig and festival tickets, etc. There were many new bands around at this time that I was into which gave me the motivation to do the fanzine. Many of the bands that I interviewed have now disappeared although some of them have since become famous and popular all over the world. Along with the fanzine I also started the Submerge record label to release singles/compilation flexis which were given away free with the fanzine (scroll down to see releases). It was really great to have the opportunity to hear so many new bands and also to meet many great people. My last fanzine came out in 1994.
