Of Albertan origin, Cameron Johnson is a key master and player in the enthusiatic and growing sound art, noise and performance arena of the Winnipeg scene. A city known for completely desolate surrounding area, unbearably cold winters and more wildlife inhabitants than human beings, it's fascinating and exciting for me to be working with This Camera is Red. The work here on 'Remembering' is painfully realized, minimal live electronics and processors, for the most part. Working in difficult terrain and arriving at complex reasons for creating, the works express a challenging study of the human/machine/music relationship and its ongoing frustrations, which at times present a sharp awareness of the tragic dimensions of human existence. At first listen, one is reminded of Hudak, Florian Hecker, Haswell, Jason Kahn, Taku Sugimoto's music for cymbal, Ryoji Ikeda, Iannis Xenakis and earlier contemporary improvisation for live electronics or computer music, but Johnson has offered something less pedantic and 'reminded us' of the importance of 'remembering.'

The re-issue of my first recorded works from 2002. Utilizing piano decay, guitar, and keyboard drones, this was recorded live to ADAPT tape by Alex Chesney.
