THE YELLOW TRAIN
It was a long, long, time ago
I sat on Daddy's knee
We were waiting for the yellow train
he said would come for me

He had this little story
Of riches, Joy and fame
That the yellow train would bring
And he'd softly speak my name

Oh daddy was a fine man
We seldom were apart
He made my life worthwhile
And his stories filled my heart

I remember the days
When the softest summer rain
Would pour down from the heavens
And we'd wait..
For the yellow train

Daddy was a carpenter
he was a man of strength and pride
When he took sick that year
Well. it hurt me so, I cried

One night I was softly sleeping
and I felt a gentle breeze
I awoke, and found a little box
With a precious set of keys

I opened it so slowly,
And my heart,it wrenched with pain
For inside the handmade wooden box
was a tiny yellow train

Oh Daddy was a fine man
We seldom were apart
he made my life worthwhile
And his stories filled my heart

I remember the days
When the softest summer rain
Would pour down from the heavens
And we'd wait
for the yellow train

Daddy passed away that year, but his memory lives on
I'm still waiting for that yellow train, but now it's with
My daughter and my son

I remember the days
When the softest summer rain
Would pour down from the heavens
And we'd wait
For the yellow train.
