Chocolate Bread
Quantity/Servings:     Serves 16
Ingredients:
1 package active dry yeast
4 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup milk
1 cup water
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 tablespoons butter
1 egg
Preparation:
1. In a large bowl, mix the yeast, 1 1/4 cups flour with the cocoa, sugar, salt, and baking soda.

2. Over low heat, combine milk, water, chocolate chips, and butter, stirring until the chocolate is melted. Add to dry ingredients.

3. Beat at medium speed for 2 minutes. Add 1/2 cup more flour. Beat at high speed for 2 minutes. Add egg. Stir in enough flour to make a firm dough.

4. Turn out on a lightly floured surface. Knead until smooth and elastic. Place in oiled bowl, turning dough to coat evenly with oil. Cover with plastic wrap.

5. Let rise in a warm place 1 hour or till dough doubles in size. Punch down dough and shape into two loaves. Place in greased loaf pans: let rise for 30 minutes or until light.

6. Bake at 375 for 25 minutes, or until loaf sounds hollow when tapped with a finger. Place on wire rack to cool.
