Happy Birthday, Marilyn!
Love,
Your #1 Fans!
In my dream
I remember running
across the warm sand
which swallowed my small feet
as I hurried I felt useless
while is was trying my best to reach you

I was 4 or 5
you had left a long time ago
before I was here
almost before my mother
none the less there you were
crumpled
and broken
you had fallen from the sky

and when I got there
you were wearing your birthday dress
from when you sang to your beau
but it shone brighter for me
in the hot desert sun
than it ever did for him
under the spotlights

you were laying in a pile
of scattered long stemmed red roses
as though you'd been holding them
when you plunged to earth
and they had exploded
in a ring around you

I knew you were dead
but I went to you just the same
in a feeble attempt to revive you
but there was nothing I could do
except stand there in a red dress and pigtails

nothing to do
but sob and wonder
at your still beautiful
but lifeless machine
from which the ghost
had already escaped
and to wait for my mother to come
to comfort me and to tell me why
sometimes good people die too
~Rosemary
Your face looks down from a billboard,
As the millions gaze below,
At the beauty of a legend.

They say the camera never lies,
A lie within itself,
It never saw the pain,
That you disguised behind your smile.

Your life was not an easy one,
But you had strength, despite your fame,
The inspiration you give to me,
Smiling from a hundred picture frames.

I wonder if you realize,
The difference that you made,
A shining star from Hollywood,
Yet, a woman, a friend, my friend.

And as I think about your anguish
And cry the tears you shed.
I have an image of a different you,
Before me in my head:

A you that lived to see old age,
And watch your children play.
A you that didn't depend on pills,
To see you through the day.

I wish I could have saved you,
Prevented that last night,
Saved you from the ones who killed you,
Long before you died.

I know I can't go back in time,
Years later,
What they did is done,
You'll never be forgotten,
Your image will live on.

The epitome of beauty,
Femininity and grace.
Adored by all who've seen you,
In your lifetime and beyond.

Although you left in 62,
I want the world to know,
That always will I love you,
Marilyn Monroe.

Her eyes embodied innocence,
Her body lust,
But only in herself,
she did trust.
Her glory fast and fleeting,
like a shooting stars flame,
Her legend forever with us,
like her unforgettable fame.
Her story fabulous and true,
this her 75th birthday....Marilyn, Happy Birthday to you!!
~Tiffany
The first time I saw Marilyn was in a movie called "The Asphalt Jungle." I believe it was then that I became a captivated fan. The words to describe her are hard to narrow down. She was able to use the camera in such a way that all of her actions, looks, and movements were amazing. She had that special something that few people have or had could do. What do you call it? I am at a loss for words to describe it. All I know is that Marilyn could walk into a room and the everything else would stop and people would stop in there tracks to look at this amazing woman. Marilyn is gone but, she is never to be forgotten. She is truly what "a legend " is supposed to be. Someone who left a huge impression on you and will never be forgotten due to the this special something that they possessed.
~Anita
