I started my education from a little known school in a place called Tripunithura, a suburb of Eranakulam, the Queen of Arabian sea. The place is renowned for its palaces and historic battles between the kings, the memorabilia being kept in various museums. Maybe it was incidental that this place formed the starting point for my educational battles in the years to come!!! A regal beginning.......... Which was my favorite school ?? Kendriya Vidyalaya Ottapalam in Palakkad district wins hands down!!!Have some of my best friends from there even after all these years!! It is a lovely place with a rich tradition of temples and festivities, flowing green fields and blessed by Bharathapuzha, the longest river of Kerala.........I did have a ball of a time studying in there......Helluva lotsa frienz, great teachers and in general a pretty gay and enjoyable atmosphere marked those days.......The school offered me a lot of experiences in varying fields as my frienz would also vouch for!! It taught me things that I would never forget thro out my life.......... Nothing saturnine about those days..only fun, fun and more fun........ and ofcourse, in between we also had to study!!! Those days instilled in me a lasting love for nature and all its resources( cause of an unforgettable nature trip!!!), which till date runs deeply in my mind....It is also the life's stage where i had my first drama, first stint (albeit unsuccessful!!!) with amatory escapades and a helluva lot other firsts!! After the schooling I wrote the CET (Common Entrance Test ) for admission to professional colleges and joined the best college of Kerala in the field, namely the Regional Engineering College,Calicut...(Now the National Institute of Technology Calicut). There too I had a whale of a time.......But here academics also played a more important part along with all other fields.....But I had some of my best memories in F Hostel and watching our gang's football matches as also playing for the college cricket team for all the 4 years. Passing out with an honours degree and being among the top 10 of my class was something that surprised even me after all the extra-curricular activities that i was involoved in!!!! The memories of the days and late evenings spend at the Ladies Hostel, the mukkam "trips" the F hostel cricket, food from pappachan; mamachan, shake and early evening toddy from Kattangal etc are lingering in my mind as fresh as ever..... Presently I'm doing a PG in Management (yea the same 'ol MBA!) from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad |
