SCAT 5.325" H-BEAM RODS - MODIFIED

With the use of the shorter 5.325" Scat H-beam rods and a 84mm crank, I ran into some clearance problems.
The end cap of each con rod was hitting the gudgeon pin boss in the opposite piston when at BDC.
To counter this, I filed away the pistons until the skirt was level with the gudgeon pin boss. This helped, but the
crank still would not rotate. I then set up a drill with a circular sanding disc in a vice. The paper was 80 grit btw.
The drill was run at low speed and 1.2mm taken off the back end of the rod. Obviously, the rods were marked before
I started. The job was done very slowly, making sure that the rods NEVER got hot in any way, thus avoiding any
problems that may have occured due to changing the metal properties by removing or changing the heat treatment
of the rods. If this job was done on a milling machine, the heat treatment would definitely been affected.
