He could spend the rest of his life searching for a 'cure'; in the end, he would never find it. Rezo had hidden it and sealed it three times over, in a place Zelgadis Greywers would never think of to look. All of this was carefully inscribed in one of the mystical journals the Red Priest had kept during life, and was kept under eternal lock and key.

"Most interesting." The split pupil eyes of a violet hared Mazoku skimmed the pages rapidly, then found their target. "Spell of Chimeric Release: Zelgadis was less than pleased with the power I bestowed upon him. He thinks he wilil find a 'cure' for his 'condition' if he looks hard enough. But I have locked his fate three times over, and the only key lies within..." A devilish smile crept over the Trickster's face as his gloved hands tore the page from the tome.

"Well, well now." He crumpled the paper in his fist. "We can't have this fall into the wrong hands, now, could we?" With a malicious chuckle, he burned the script in his hand and scattered the ashes to the four corners of the world. He faded into darkness with a villanous laugh, until only his slit-pupil eyes remained as a testament to his existance, and even those blurred out quickly.

"Lina, please, it's merely a tile trap." The light tenor of a young man's voice came with a sigh. "Just cast Levitation."

"Heh. Easy for you to say, mister." A high alto female voice snorted at his comment. "Need I remind you what today is? And that Gourry and Ameria are still far behind, and will send this whole place crashing down on our heads if they try to figure it out?"

With a second sigh, the sound of cloth rustling quickly, and a squeal of protest, the two found themselves at the doorway of the ancient chamber.

"Keep an eye out for them." The man, dressed in an ivory ensemble of tunic, pants, cape and cowl, walked to the center of the room where the book lay in wait. "If... When they show up, don't let them cross the tile trap."

"Fine." The girl, clad in mauve, gold, and black, pouted by the door. "What's so great about that book, anyway?"

"This is... was Rezo's journal." Gingerly, he opened the thick book and lightly turned the pages. "Every spell he ever cast is recorded here, and hopefully, a counter to it."

"Lina! Zelgadis!" A high pitched female's voice called out, and a forboding feeling of doom froze the man's voice.

"Wait for us!" Another man's voice yelled.

"No! Ameria! Gourry! Don't come any closer!" Lina shouted, but all too late.

The foot of a blonde, sword-swinging mercenary came down on the trigger tile of the booby trap.

"Uh-oh." He whimpered as the building began to shake.

"Gourry, you idiot!"

"This place is going to collapse on our heads!" The smaller girl with soft dark hair covered her head with her arms and dashed for the exit, and was rapidly flanked by the swordsman.

"Zel - " Lina turned to find her companion, but was cut short by the breath being knocked from her.

And the ageless building that housed secrets of a blind mage crumbled to the ground, burying two of the adventurers under it's timeless stones...
