Poetry by Cathy Jo Moore |
He was born through a virgin, and laid in a manger He was worshipped by kings, who called Him The Savior Being the Only Begotten Son Yes, from heaven, The Anointed One Against Him evil could not stand For He wasn't just your average man |
He fed the hungry and raised the dead: Everyone listened to every word that He said He lived without sin, and was questioned by brothers For who was this man...so different from others? It was at a supper which would be the last That He spoke about what soon would pass He was judged by the people to be crucified When never did He ever, tell one single lie He was nailed to a cross, and speared in His side Yes, with His arms stretched opened wide Given a crown a crown of thorns While those who did love Him, knelt and mourned The Father stayed with Him up to the end But had to turn from His Son who had to carry all sin For it is finished, for it is done Then Jesus commanded His Spirit, to the Holy One He died on that cross do we may be saved But death could not keep Him, down in the grave Because three days later, the stone rolled away And to Mary these words, He did say "Go tell the others that I am alive And soon on a cloud, I'll be lifted high He walked by their side for forty days To show to all that He is truly The Way Then to His Throne he did ascend But first made The Promise to return for those who love, and believe in Him. |
