Taking a ride from
Skansen to Slussen. With me in the picture were Pauline and June.
Yip
and Chan were with us, behind the scene.
We went to Skansen to watch
the Walpurgis Night bonfire.

One of the festive
highlights of the Swedish year, quite literally, is the spring
bonfires. It takes place on the evening of 30th April, known as
Walpurgis Night. Bonfires are lit, often on hilltops where they will
be visible from a long way off. The lighting of bonfires one
evening in spring was an ancient custom in Sweden. The Swedish
custom is descended from the virulent Walpurgis fires of north
Germany, and since most German immigrants were to be found in
Stockholm and its surroundings, this is where the custom first took
root. (Taken from: Maypoles, Crayfish and Lucia - Swedish Holidays
and Traditions, by Jan-Öjvind Swahn, 1999)

Tulips were in bloom in
Skansen, the open-air museum in Stockholm.
We spent our first day of spring here.
