‘There
There’ is not quite the blistering return to guitar-rock perfection that
everyone had hoped for, having politely tolerated the uncompromising experimentation
of Kid A and Amnesiac. But the guitars are nevertheless back
with a vengeance, albeit a delicate, minor key vengeance that recalls the
‘head’s early US indie influences more than The Bends-era fireworks.
Another welcome return is Thom Yorke as a singer; the old pop sensibility
is definitely lurking somewhere behind that inimitable whine. Altogether
a very Radiohead-like comeback.
