BACKGROUND STORY

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
The Chronicles of the Forgotten Age revolve around the continent of Aria, land of the angels and home to the city of Phaedra.  It was once ruled by the great High Priestess, Saphrediem, of whom governed the world under the guidance of Raijon.
Before the day the world of the angels fell, Saphrediem was warned by a phalinx, Raijon's bird messengers, that soon there would be a great evil upon the city.  Saphrediem waited patiently, letting her people know of the darkness soon to come before them.

Two years passed, and Saphrediem bore a son named Adimus.  He physically was pure like the rest of the angels, and the people adored him.  However, as he grew older and became a priest of the temple, he began to preach unusual doctrines.  He spoke of the three moons, Aurora, Medea and Cerelia, and how they were the true goddesses of Nimbus.
It was not, however, until Adimus spoke of Raijon as a "non-existent deity" that his doctrines were brought before Saphrediem.
In her anger, she punished Adimus by her hand, and he grew humble.
In the years to pass, Adimus began his teachings again, only this time much stronger than before.  He flattered his listeners, and fooled them.  Many began to follow him in his apostacy, and thus Saphrediem saw a phalinx once again.
This time, Raijon commanded Saphrediem to kill Adimus and end his wickedness that was corrupting the beauty of the angels.
Saphrediem, even in her wisdom, could not kill her own son of whom had flattered her.  Adimus had convinced her of his love for her, and she was deceived, and thus she did not kill her son.

Within days, Saphrediem learned of a tower being built in the center of the city.   It was a tower that would reach up into the sky, where Adimus would climb.  There, he would fly up into the Highest Heaven and search for Raijon.  Upon his return, he would bring news that there existed no such Woman.
Saphrediem demanded an end to the tower, but by then many of her people had turned to Adimus in their questioning faith, awaiting the proof of the being, Raijon.  Thus, they rose against her, and the tower was built.
It was named Desdemona, the Tower of Faith, and Adimus began his climb to the peak of the tower.  However, as the people watched from the world below, they saw the clouds darken and the wind begin to howl.  Lightning struck the tower, and it collapsed.
The people watched Adimus fall against the world's boundaries, his wings torn and his eyes blind.  Yet he was not dead.

In the days to follow, Saphrediem would again be commanded by Raijon to slay her son, but the pity in her heart had overwhelmed her, and she could not do as she was told.  Adimus's influence had taken her, as it had many before her.
There would be no more words spoken by Raijon from that day onward.
In the year to pass, on the day after Saphrediem perished of age, the angels of Phaedra would see a red light in the sky.  In myth, it would be described as a meteor, and it struck the world down to the land of Men, like a storm upon the sea.
Adimus and his wicked followers perished, and were forever confined to the spirit world that would be nothing more than a shadow of Aria's once beautiful city.
