Sundew Matt's South American Drosera Photo Gallery
Most South American Drosera grow in highland areas which are difficult to reach. Thanks to a couple of my personal heros, these plants have recently entered cultivation. It is important that we appreciate the time, effort and money spent on expeditions to these areas and treat these plants and their collectors with the respect they deserve!
Below are some photos of plants which I have grown from seed. They
all grow in my living room, in terraria under fluorescent lights. I
have found most of these plants to be slow but easy growers. They dislike
heat and low humidity. I have found this to be especially true of
D.villosa. Growing medium: long fiber, high quality New Zealand sphagnum
moss. Photoperiod 11-14 hours. Watering: distilled water,
moist-slightly wet, wetter during summer months. Humidity:
100%. Temperatures - night: 50F-65F, day: 70F-80. For some
fantastic photos and more info on this group of plants, visit my friends
Fernando and Marcelo's web site at
