Prologue-
Liz Parker looked at herself in the mirror one more time wrapping her arms around her midsection and closing her eyes. "I will protect you." She swore.
Looking around her room one more time before she picked up her bag and climbed out her window. She shivered a little in the cloud night air but pressed on. Closing her window she crossed her balcony and climbed down her fire escape. She stopped by the window of the Crashdown and peered in. She saw Max at the counter talking animatedly to Michael. Taking a deep breath she backed away.
"Bye Max." she whispered before walking away into the night.

Max Evans suddenly froze in mid-conversation with Michael Guerin.
"Max? What's the matter?"
"I don't know. I just got the feeling that I lost something important to me." He said.
"Like what?"
"I don't know."

One Month Later
"Liz you can't ask me to keep this from Max. He's my best friend." Michael said heatedly standing in the living room of Liz's home.
"Michael think about this for a minute would you? If you tell Max what will happen if and when you guys get called home? He is their ruler, he needs to go. If he feels he's abandoning me he won't go." Liz argued.
"What if he can take you with him?"
"The powers that be won't let him and you know it."
"You don't know that."
"Look Michael I didn't ask you to come here to argue I asked you here because I want you to be my quote unquote contact."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean I want you to help me. I'm gonna need someone to help deliver them when the time comes and someone to help explain their powers and help harness them."
"Liz I can't do that."
"Why not?"
"First of all I'm not a doctor and second I don't know all that much."
"Who do you want me to ask? Nasedo?"
"No of course not but-"
"No. No buts."
"I still think you need to tell Max."
"No Michael and if you do you won't have to worry about the FBI because I'll kill you myself."
Michael looked at the small young woman and had no doubt that she meant what she said. Forgive me Max. he thought silently.
"What else do you need me to do?" He asked and by that one question he told Liz that he'd protect her and her secret no matter what.
