Our primary goal is to teach the players football and sportsmanship. Along the way we will develop them to be better and stronger future leaders in our community and schools. Strong competition will help develop those skills, but it is up to the league and programs to promote an environment that will encourage interest, participation and good sportsmanship.

Dear SPYF Parents and Players,

Wow, have we been making changes. The new
SPYF Board of Directors has been working hard to improve your youth football experience.

Let me fill you in on some of the changes:

1.) Sun Prairie, along with McFarland Youth Football has joined the Dane County Youth Football League. This will give our teams a much larger pool of competitors this fall.

2.) SPYF is now a "Grade Based" program. 5th graders will only play 5th graders, 6th vs. 6th, 7th vs. 7th and 8th vs. 8th. While we see this as a VERY positive change, we are disappointed to be losing the 7th & 8th grade heavyweight and lightweight divisions.

3.) SPYF will start practices on August 11th, 2009. This is one week later than our usual kick off date.

4.) A very organized and motivate group of people has taken over the management of SPYF equipment. You will notice a big change when it comes to check-in and check-out, as well as upkeep a condition of equipment.

5.) New grounds crew. They've been busy since last fall in preparation for the 2009 season.

6.) New website: www.sunprairieyouthfootball.com

7.) New facebook site to update parents and players as quickly as possible. search for "SunPrairie YouthFootball".

While we hope these changes will make your experience with SPYF better, unfortunately they may not cover everyone's concerns. It is imperative that you communicate with us as we contunue to evolve this program. We need your feedback to make SPYF the best it can be.

I was elected by the board to lead SPYF, but it is the Board's positive outlook and "get it done" approach that has made these changes possible. With your help, this can be the BEST YEAR YET for SPYF.

I look forward to a very exiciting year!
