:::PROFILE:::
  I have always had a love for horses and all animals. As small children, Amanda Bopp and I used to religiously watch The Black Stallion and pretend that we had horses of our own. I thought that one day riding horses was just a dream and would be nothing more that just pretend, until one day my mom suggested that we look at riding stables for my sister and I to start taking lessons at. I was very excited. We looked at a couple of stables and eventually decided on Shadyvale Equestrian Centre. I started taking lessons with Tanya when I was nine years old and have been riding with her ever since. After a little while, my sister decided she had better things to do, but I could never imagine a better time. I rode school horses for a few years, and I learned a lot, but once I began to advance, I then decided to start leasing. I ended up leasing a lot of horses, and I learned a lot from each and every one of them- from sweet, gentle geldings, to spirited mares. I think riding so many different kinds of horses (some with absolutely opposite personalities) only made me a better rider. Finally, about two years ago, I started leasing a Pinto gelding named Prince, owned by April McKenzie. I learned more from him than any other horse I rode. His quirky personality, bashful expression, and beautiful colours made me and everyone else love him. He taught me a lot, but recently I decided to start leasing Carter, owned by Danielle Anderson, as well. I've enjoyed riding and jumping Carter; he is a real gentleman and such an honest jumper. As for Prince, we are currently having a lot of fun riding dressage. I look forward to all that's in store for 2004.
