My name is Miss Amy and I am the owner of Sunrise Preschool. I have an Associate of Applied Science In Early Childhood Education. I have been teaching for 8 years.
Teaching young children is a joy and such a wonderful opportunity to help children to have positive learning experiences.
Parents entrust to us for caring and nurturing a most cherished part of themselves--their children. Children of preschool age are capable of more than mere playtime and naptime. Children two through five can learn and begin to function in group situations. Here at Sunrise Preschool I am dedicated to creating a delightful learning environment for preschool children.
Children need a positive, creative learning atmosphere. A place where they feel loved, safe and important. Learning should be fun and I use a variety of activities in my curriculum.
Process is more important than product. With young children, the ultimate value of an activity is the experience of doing the activity, rather than the quality of the product produced.
Children learn by doing. Avoid doing for children anything which they might do for themselves. As much as possible, allow children to do their own drawing, cutting, experimenting, buttoning, etc.
The creativity of each child must be encouraged. The end result of an activity should not be a group of products which all look the same. Ask Children: "What else could you do?" "What do you think?" "How can you make yours different?" Activities should be in addition to creative experiences not substitution of creative experiences.
