The Eruption
This photo shows the Mt. Pinatubo erupting as seen
from the parade grounds in front of what was 13th Air Force headquarters, which relocated to Andersen AFB, Guam after the eruption. (If you look
closely, you can see the flags of the U.S. and RP in front of the HQ building)
This photo was taken from the Clark AB flightline. This was the initial eruption
which occurred at 8:03 a.m., June 14th. The F-16's flown by the 3rd Tactical Fighter Wing had
long since been flown to other bases in the Pacific. You may ask why the sky is so gray? Well
as luck would have it, Typhoon Yunya hit the Philippines the same day
the volcano erupted. Oh , what fun.
No, it's not the bombing of Hiroshima or a nuclear test. Just some more pics
of Mt. Pinatubo blowing it's top.
