* FOR - shareware version - press spacebar next to the
trashcan near the entrance to the arcade. This should open
a secret door above the can this door contains 5 tripbombs.
also upstairs in the room with the camera - jump on camera
this will open a secret door that contains a rocket launcher
.IF any one knows how to open the door near in the arcade
please Email me or post it here.
* Just press Space to open the arcade door. Oh, and it's like an elevator thing, so press spce again. When you get to the top of it, watch out, there are 2 people there so be ready. Then there is yellow things in the corner, blow them up. Open the door (in arcade room) by pressing the space bar, then it will enter in your card and walk up. once you get passed the guy there, there will be a health bax to your right. And to your left, walk, shoot the man, and use jetpack, go across, and hit space near the fan. You beat the level!!!
* Um.. (coff, coff) Smiley... That's not a fan but the
End-of-level "Nuke-button". and those yellow things are cans
of C-9, also seen at the beginning of the level, next to the
fan vent. There are plenty of places that tell you much more
exciting cheats for this excellent game than are here but
here are all the ones I know of in Episode 1 Map 1.
Sorry if they are a bit hard to understand:)
Secret 1:
Right at the beginning when you fall out of the vent there
is an Alien to your right standing on a box, jump on the box
(after you have killed him) and then onto the window ledge.
There are three windows and you can jump through the middle
one and the one furtherest away from you but before you do
that, if you look on your map (tab) there is another ledge
running at a 90 degree ang le to the window ledge you are
on. On the second ledge I told you about there is a RPG.
Secret 2:
If you jump through the window on the first window ledge I
talked about there is a "L" Shaped room. On one wall there
is a movie poster which is really a secret door which holds
a jar of Steroids.
Secret 3:
The next secret is in the part where there is a bar, (I'm
not sure what this is called, it has four or five doors
coming out of it) If you jump behind the bar and then press
(space) on the checkout register it will open a door near
the roof to your right. Then jump back over the bar and on
the wall somewhere I think about 3 bricks to the right of
the door s a switch which will elevate you to the proper
hieght to enter the door and grab the amour. You can also
close this if you are hiding from someone in Duke-Match.
Secret 4:
In the toilets you can jump up onto a little room next to
the cubicals. (On your right if you are sitting inside them)
in there is a portable medikit but that is not the secret.
You can knock out the vent and climb through the
airconditioning ayatem but thats not the secret either.
Where the Air conditioning vent turns to the right is a
crack which you can blow up using RPG or pipebombs. There is
a Holoduke in there.
Secret 5: Turning on the switch in the room where the
projector (camera) is will open the curtain revealing a
crack in the screen. This can be blown open to reveal 20
shotgun shells, a jetpack and a viewscreen.
Secret 6:
Using your jetpack (press "j" for those of you who are
stupid enough to ignore the instructions) fly out of the
window (Secret 5) and go up. ( press "a" for you idiots
again) Keep going up until you reach the roof, It's a long
way... There is a little room there with shotgun shells and
another jetpack. I like jumping out of here and going for a
free fall, then turning on my jetpack just beforeI hit the
ground.
Secret 7:
Behind the palm tree in the second window from the bottom
right over on the left (Behind the palm tree) there is
another room with red lights on. HEAPS of weapons in here.
You can reachit using the jetpack OR if you really want to
there is a ledge running around from near the end-of-level
button which you can walk on then jump into the palm tree
then you can reach the room by jumping.
Secret 8: in the projection room if you jump on top of the
projectioner (camera) there is an atomic health up there and
a door opens containing a RPG and two aliens. Usually a good
idea to put down some pipe bombs firsdt then blow them to
hell he he he...
Secret 9?:
Pressing (space) on the Duke Nukem 2 machine in the arcade
will open a small door to the right of it containing a
holoduke but you have to be fast because it closes quickely.
Obviously I have put something in here that wasen't a secret
because there are only 8 secrets in the first level. Sorry
:)
* If you have the Freeze Cannon and Pig Cops are around, freeze them, but DON'T SHATTER THEM! They'll drop their shotgun ammo. Let them thaw, then freeze them again. They'll drop more. Repeat until your shotgun is fully loaded.
* You can enter the bar without using the access card in Red Line District..After destroying the building, head to it and find the sewer cover. Blow it up with an RPG and jump into the sewers. You should eventually find your way into the bar!
*One of the greatest things about Duke Nukem 3D are all the gags and hidden jokes the developers planted in the
game. Also, there are a few bugs in the game that are fun to exploit. Here are a few:
In the theater bathroom on level 1, check just above the urinals for a special phone number. Remember Tommy Tutone from the
80's?
Throw a pipe bomb or shoot an RPG into a teleporter. :-)
Hang out by the fire hydrant in level 1 with an RPG ready. Swallow the steroids and shoot a rocket back towards where you start
the level. Then, immediately run after that rocket. Don't run into it or you're toast. Instead, run past it on the side. Then, turn around
right as you reach the building. If you time it right, you can take the rocket right in the face. Then you get to see your blood spread
all over the ground. Suicide has never been so fun! (by James C. Barnes)
Go into the bar next to the disco on level 2 and check out what's playing on the tube. Do the words "slow-speed chase" ring a bell?
(Note : you won't get to see what's on TV if you fire an RPG into the room before entering.)
Turn off clipping mode with 'dnclip' and walk through a mirror. Neat effect!
Go into the chapel on level 3 and walk up to the altar. Shoot out both stained-glass windows and then press the space bar against
the face panel. The cross will invert, and a passage will open on the left side. You'll find an octabrain and a corpse in a green space
suit. Duke says, "That's one doomed space marine!" (If you haven't played Doom DeathMatch, you won't get the joke). There's a
chaingun on the ledge behind the corpse, too.
Try this: go outside, turn on God mode, and fly up with the jetpack as high as you can go. Press F7 to turn on view mode, and then
turn off your jetpack. After you hit the ground you'll get a nice view of what you'd look like if God mode wasn't on!
On Level 6, the Launch Facility, you start out facing a slow-moving turbine. Go between any two blades of the turbine, and drop a
holoduke. Step back, and watch its behavior as the blades hit it. Utterly useless, but interesting.
Try using your pistol or shotgun to sink a few balls on the pool table near the bar on level 2. You can also hit the space bar against
the table to shoot the balls, too.
On level 6, try tracking through some blood under the rocket and leaving footprints. Then, after you launch the rocket, the
footprints are still there--hanging in midair.
If you kill an alien while he is standing under one the the vertically opening doors, the door will come down and squish the body,
and whenever it opens after that it a stringy bit of flesh gets stretched between the two halves of the door.
Get a "shock" by touching the electrical outlet in the arcade in level 1.
Start a new game. Before descending down the vent, type in DNMONSTERS and then drop to the street. Grab the Rocket Launcher
from the ledge (you all know where this is by now) and then go to the cinema ticket window. Stand back (I usually stand in the
shadow of the air vent I came down) and shoot a rocket through the ticket window (use crosshair if needed). This will blow a hole
in the side of the wall. Now go stand infront of the hole looking into the ticket booth and type DNMONSTERS This will turn the
monsters BACK ON and the lizard who was originally in there will EXPLODE before your very eyes in a glorious display of body
parts. Its a Kodak moment so keep your finger over the F12 key to share it with friends.
Edit the user.con file with a text editor, and you'll see how easy it is to change weapon strengths, max ammo supplies, and other
stuff. A warning, though: weapon strengths are universal, so if you change the strength of the shotgun, the Pig Cop's will be just
as powerful as yours.
(4/14/96 - from Warren Thiele) - Here is a little trick I know of. My friend found it in a DukeMatch, and it really caught me off guard.
Go in the apartment behind the cinema sign and jump onto the left window ledge facing out. Duck down and move forward and
back, but don't fall off the ledge. If you do it right you'll end up in the corner of the arcade beside the Duke Nukem game. Since you
can hear your opponent hit the elevator in the arcade you can time it so that you can blast him with the RPG without him knowing
what hit him. I am running Duke Nukem 1.1 shareware. I'm not sure if it'll work in other version.
(4/14/96 - from Paul Forst) - I was just looking at the "Fun things to do" in Duke Nukem and wanted to add one of my own... As far
as I know I am the first and only person to have found this glitch. What you do, is got to any level with any women in it (strippers,
cheerleaders, etc.) and shrink them (one side note: if you shrink the cheerleaders in the boss level - the Stadium - in episode 3, they
unshrink bigger than before), once they have been shrunk select the freezethrower and fire at them. You will usually hear a cry like
an alien dying and possibly a spurt of blood, but they will not die. Then when they unshrink, they will be indestructable. You can
fire off 100 RPG's at them and they'll still keep on dancing. Also the aliens that always appear when you kill one of the girls will not
appear if you use this technique... There is also another related glitch where you first freeze them, then shrink them and then freeze
them again. When they unshrink they will be indestructable but you WILL be able to freeze them again, but this time they will still
be dancing while frozen, and if you then walk up to them you'll shatter them to pieces. These glitches are in the full version, I don't
know if they will or will not work with the shareware version ... Try it out and enjoy...
(5/12/96 - from Ardeo) - I was playing in version 1.3d when I found this out by accident. It only works in 1.3d....that I know so far. If
you press f7 to enter view mode, then press f9 without a quick restore spot, then wait a few seconds before hitting return, the view
mode camera will advance past DUKE into whatever direction he happens to be facing. The camera will move it's view back to 3 feet
in front of you. While it's moving, you have control of where Duke looks, so you can use this to look through walls, doors, etc. It
only lasts a few seconds, but that's all you need to see that your opponent is waiting on the other side of the door!
(6/18/96 - from Ardeo) - Start a new game, doesn't matter which episode/difficulty, then type the God-Mode cheat, quit to the
title-screen and wait for the demo to load, preferably the one in the space-base. What's that? Duke's gone drunk or something?
(6/18/96 - from Noel H.) - You can get teenage assualt troopers by using the shrinkray on an assault trooper. While he is shrunk, try
not to squish him or else the trick won't work. Now aim the freezthrower at him and wait until he starts to unshrink. The second he
starts to grow, freeze him. If your timing was right you have a "frozen" teenage assault trooper. When he unfreezes, he'll act as a
normal assault trooper, but he'll be the size of a teenager. These teenage assault troopers are a pain in the ass, though.
(6/18/96 - from Noel H.) - Don't you wish you could pump gallons and gallons of blood out of a dead enemy? Well if you do, here's
a simple trick that'll make your wish come true. First, kill an enemy but DONT blow him up. Next type DNMONSTERS. All the
enemies should've disappeared. Now type DNMONSTERS again. All the monsters should've reappeared. Now aim at the direction
of the dead enemy, NOT at the body. Now just shoot! I love using the chaingun with this trick.
(6/18/96 - from Noel H.) - Here's a trick for all you people who love to watch those stupid assault troopers go SPLAT! First of all, go
to any episode and do the GOD code. Start a new game and pick episode one and DAMN I'M GOOD as the difficulty level. Once
you get on the street, wait until alot of enemies are in the area. Now use your jetpack (the one you got using the GOD code) to fly
ALL the way until you stop. Stay up there until ALL the assualt troopers reach your level. Now turn off your jetpack. After you
survive the drop, watch the shadows of the assault troopers. If a shadow stops moving, watch out because you know one of those
dumbasses is gonna go SPLAT. And since they respawn, you can do this all day!
(7/3/96 - from Mike Mittag) - Here's a fun thing for the Mortal Kombat freaks: In Setup, define right mouse button as quick-kick. In
the game, select foot as weapon (Number 1). Push both mouse buttons! (If you select other weapons, Duke can shoot through his
foot)
(7/6/96 - from Koolior) - Shoot the shrink gun at a mirror to get a worm's eye view.
(7/9/96 - from Roland) - Type in the cash cheats DNCASHMAN, DNKROZ, and DNSTUFF. Go to a wide open area (street of e1l1,
for example), jetpack as high as you can, hit the space bar many, many times and throw lots of money. Then turn off the jetpack to
rapidly descend. You will be showered with bills in a minute or two.
(7/21/96) from NForeman) -
2001: on one of the Lunar Apocalypse missions (I don't know which) there is a secret passage that will lead you to a giant,
black monolith emitting a terrible humming noise that can be walked through and into a teleporter that sends you someplace
(I forgot where).
The Terminator: in one of the levels on Shrapnel City (Freeway, I think), there is an obvious reference to ARnold's first good
movie. It's a mechanical arm hanging out of a crushing thing. You can duck your way into the crushing thing (to get an
RPG) when Duke says "Terminated." Look down and there is a flattened Terminator.
Raiders of the Lost Ark: on level 8 of Shrapnel City, there is a swimming pool. Jump behind the waterfall nearby and you are
dropped into a small area like the Indian levels of Episode one. There is a handprint on a wall near some palmtrees and a
Secret Level Button. Hit the handprint and a small enterance appears. Walking through the fire, walk forward until you reach
a small alcove. You know you're there when you see a very small Indiana Jones impaled upon a wooden spike on the wall,
as Duke says "We meet again, Doctor Jones." There is an atomic health on a pedastal that, when grabbed, causes the
ceiling to come down and shake the whole area. Get out or you'll be squished.
(8/9/96) from Yoon-Jae Lee) - If you freeze an Enforcer (I think its an Enforcer, its the chaingun guy) and wait until he/it just about
unfreezes, and go up to it and kick. If you time it right, it will show an un frozen Enforcer being shattered anyway. I am not sure if it
works with other enemies, but I think its does. This was done in full version 1.3d so it may not work in other versions.
(8/25/96) from Chainsaw) - A neat thing to do, since I love trashing those assault trooper guys is to put on god mode, and start a
new game with the hardest level, and go to the first episode (second level is best, although the first works too), and fly to the top of
the map. when all the assault troopers follow you up there, shoot one with a shotgun, or if you have an edited user.con, a powerful
pistol, and about 1/4th of a second after the guy dies and starts falling, turn off the jet pack, and you can watch him at close range,
as he falls and writhes in agony :). This is also fun with the chaingun, as you can shoot the guy as he falls.
(10/15/96) from Anubis) -
In the Hotel Hell level, jump into the swimming pool. Look down at the bottom and you should find the infamous Baby Ruth
candybar from Caddyshack. By the way, it doesn't float...
In Episode 3, Level 8 (Hotel Hell) the height of the underwater passageway from the wall crack in the swimming pool (which
is at the height of the 1st floor) and the washroom on the first floor doesn't work out. Instead of going down and under the
entrance hallway, then up into the washroom, you go straight out the hole in the pool, across what would be the hallway to
enter the hotel from the start area. You then go up, but end up on the first floor. You'll have to call up the map to see this.
Anyhow, there's a point in the hallway where some of this mess resolves itself, and you'll find if you rush from the far lobby
entrance down the hall and hit the right piece of wall you end up on the second floor by the pool- with no need to get the
yellow key. It's very hard to do, though, but if you can master it- it's a great way to confound dukematch opponents.
(11/11/96 - by Patrick Geahan) - See the Duff Beer blimp in the last level, Stadium? Duff Beer is the favorite beer of everyone's
favorite TV dad, Homer Simpson.
(11/13/96 - a few by Steve Bennett) -
As well as the phone number in level one there is a web address in the left stall, very low down on the right hand
side..easiest to see in BUILD.
After peeing in an underwater toilet, Duke can't surface anymore.
For a free ride, jump on top of the lizard troopers, and they'll just start flying up, with you on top!
(1/8/96 - by Stoner) - In E2L1 at the begining of the level, you see a spaceshp. Type DNCLIP and walk through the forcefield. On
the side of the ship you can see it says U.S.S. FRAMERATE.
(1/9/97 - by David Grantham) - This tip is not that useful, but it's fun. First find a weak opponent, and shrink him. Then, while he is
small, freeze him, and he'll stay small. I went around the whole first level making everyone small and then running away so all the
beasties are small.
Episode 1: L.A. Meltdown
Level 1: Hollywood Holocaust
Secret Areas (8 total)
1.After dropping down the vent to the street, jump onto the crate to your right, then to the building
ledge, and finally to the ledge in front of the billboard. An RPG will rise up from the ground to
greet you.
2.Jump on to the crate and then the building ledge again, then thru the center window on that wall
and into the apartment. Technically, the area in front of the RPG ammo counts as the secret.
3.While in secret place #2, walk up to the large poster at the end of the hall and open it to reveal a
stash of steroids.
4.Behind the theater snack counter, use the cash register to reveal a secret alcove near the ceiling
on the wall to your right (on the other side of the counter). Walk up to the wall beneath the
alcove and slide a little to your right. Click on the wall and a small platform will boost you up.
5.In the projector room, there is a secret door on the wall next to the fire extinguisher. This secret
is also reachable from the bathroom by shooting a hole in the air vent over the stalls. You'll find
some aliens, some shotgun ammo, and a cacooned woman.
6.Also in the projector room, jump on top of the projector to open a door concealing a secret area
with a alien and an RPG.
7.After opening the curtain in the projector room, use an RPG or pipe bomb on the center of the
movie screen to find some aliens, some more shotgun ammo, and a jetpack.
8.There's a secret area in the building behind the palm tree next to the theater's front entrance.
Near the end of the level, you'll have to cross a small bridge, overlooking the back entrance to
the movie theater. Before crossing, drop down to the ledge underneath the doorway leading to
the bridge. Walk around the ledge to the front of the building, all the way to the palm tree. Jump
on top of the tree and then through the window of the building. Inside you'll find a shotgun, an
RPG, a chaingun, and some pipe bombs. If you have trouble jumping onto the palm tree, you
could always use your jetpack to get inside the apartment.
Bonus Areas
After finding Secret #3, go out one of the windows next to the poster and land on the ledge. On
the far end of the ledge is a healing atom. This can also be reached from outside by jumping onto
the no parking sign and and then to the ledge.
Jump on the garbage can outside the arcade entrance and then hit the space bar to open the
hidden alcove above you. Jump in to the alcove to get some night vision goggles, some pipe
bombs, and a small healing kit.
Inside the arcade, use the Duke Nukem II video game to hear a great one-liner and reveal a
holoduke hidden in the wall just to the right of the game.
You'll need a jetpack to reach this bonus area. Starting in front of the movie theater's back
doors, fly straight up. Eventually, you'll reach a small alcove guarded by two gun turrets on
opposite walls. Destroy the two turrets, so you can reach the jetpack and two boxes of shotgun
ammo safely.
Use a pipe bomb or RPG in the air shaft in the bathroom, where it makes a 90 degree turn.
You'll find a small niche containing a Holoduke.
Level 2: Red Light District
Secret Areas (8 total)
1.In the main part of the bookstore, the middle bookcase along the wall conceals some pipe
bombs and armor.
2.Jump on top of the bookcases behind the bookstore counter. In the corner opposite the security
monitor, a secret door conceals a holoduke.
3.In the darkened corridor leading from the bookstore to the elevator, there's a small side passage
to the right of the elevator. Inside you'll find an alien, a pig cop, and a healing atom.
4.The sewer area is accessible two different ways:
After reaching the yellow key card in the wreckage of the demolished building, use an
RPG or pipe bomb to blow off the nearby sewer lid.
In the dance club bathroom, use the toilet (not a urinal). This will unlock a secret door
behind it, which leads to the sewer area. Inside you'll find an octabrain, some pig cops, a
cacooned woman, and many items.
5.As you enter dance floor through the garage door, there's a bench in the corner to your left.
When you step on the bench, a secret door behind the two dancing girls on the opposite wall
opens. You'll need to run to make it in time; you can repeat the sequence as many times as
necessary to reach it. Inside is a chaingun and some ammo.
6.Blow open the air vent in the corner of the dance floor. Use the table to jump into the vent. It
leads to backstage; along the way, you'll find a healing atom.
7.This ledge next to dance floor curtain controls holds a pair of night vision goggles. Jump to it
from the ledge leading to the dance club's attic from the stage.
8.In the dance club's attic, there's a lit section of the wall next to the two crates. Open it to reveal a
med kit.
Bonus Areas
Outside, near the start, go toward the "bar" building and jump onto the slanted part and then
onto the ledge to the left to find some ammo and health.
In the bookstore's bathroom, use the hand drying machine to open a niche in the wall between
the the hand dryer and the toilet stall. Inside you'll find a pair of night vision goggles.
In the peep show cabin area, there is something good to get in all of the cabins. Also, you can
blow a hole at the end of the hall.
Level 3: Death Row
Secret Areas (10 total)
1.After lowering the electric chair with the switch in the control room, crawl into the area behind
the chair to find a shotgun and some ammo.
2.In the church, stand along the back wall, and face the altar. You should see a switch above the
altar; shoot it and a platform will raise you into the rafters. You'll find some armor and a dead
monk hanging from the ceiling. Shoot the monk for a healing atom.
3.Shoot out both stain glass windows. Use the altar itself to open a door to a passage behind the
altar. Back there, you'll find an octabrain, a chaingun, and a "DOOMed space marine" :-)
4.In the jail cell with the toilet, use the bench to open a crawlspace. You'll find some RPG ammo
inside.
5.In the turret area, there are small ledges on either side of the locked door. Hop on one the
ledges, and then on to turret's level. You should see another ledge on the side of the wall above
the locked door. Hop on this ledge and walk through the to find some healing atoms.
6.In the turret area, above where you pick up the red key, there's a weak spot in the wall. You'll
need to hop to the turret's level, as mentioned in secret #5, to be able to jump in. Shoot the
weak spot to reveal some steroids and another weak spot. Shoot it to open to reveal a back
way into cell block 1.
7.After opening the map outside the room with the hologram head, a niche with some pipe bombs
will open up and to your left.
8.Another niche opens above an to the right of the map, containing a healing atom.
9.Inside the sub, there's a hidden door on the wall behind the crate. Inside you'll find the ship's
reactor and a Med kit.
10.By the door leading between the sub and the turret area, you'll find a switch on a ledge to unlock
the door. Hop up on the ledge, crawl, and hit the space bar to open a small niche containing
night vision goggles.
Bonus Areas
In the room where people sit and witness an execution, there is a different color wall which
opens to reveal a holoduke.
In the room with the rotating gears, jump onto the shorter one and then onto the ledge to the right
for some health. Also, you can find a secret wall on the ledge that opens to reveal night vision
goggles.
In the central control room with the hologram in the center and the switch that rotates the room,
there is a vent you can shoot out and crawl into to find some armor. If you keep going, you'll fall
back to corridor close to the rotating gears (the fall will cause a little damage).
At the end of one of the cell block halls, there are some explosive bottles. Blow them up to
reveal some health and a path back to the cell with the bed.
Level 4: Toxic Dump
Secret Areas (14 total)
1.If you walk thru the fire burning on top of the sub, it opens a secret niche inside the sub, near the
top.
2.Underwater near the sub, there's a cave with two octabrains. You'll see some light coming thru
an opening in the cave wall. Blow open the cave wall, and follow the tunnel up to some pipe
bombs and more octabrains. Swim upwards and climb out of the water into a small cave with
some barrels and a cacooned women. This area is the actual secret. Blow away the wall behind
the barrels to get out.
3.From the ledge where you get the blue key, destroy gun turret to your left and right. Then run
and jump into both of these small caves where the turrets were. In the left cave (facing the sub),
there are two secret doors, and the actual secret is behind a secret wall inside the right cave,
where you'll find some RPG ammo.
4.After coming thru the blue key door from outside, a wall on the right, near the bend in the
hallway, can be opened. Inside you'll find an elevator leading to the room full of aliens you could
see from outside. You'll also find a chaingun.
5.In the processing area, the conveyor will take you past a small slime pit. Crawl off the conveyor
into the slime and open the leftmost wall. You'll find some chaingun ammo.
6.In the computer room near the top of the conveyor system, use the blue circuit box next to the
leftmost cylinder. This will open both cylinders. Jumping up in the left cylinder will get you some
healing atoms.
7.In the flood area, there is a slanted platform with two "fingers" of land. Run and jump off the
edge of one of them and into a darkened cave. Go to the back and hop on the small ledge to get
some items. Night vision goggles may be helpful here if you have trouble.
8.Rock Wall, part 1: After jumping off one of the "fingers" (mentioned in #7) and into the main
platform, blow away the crack in the wall to find a small cave and an alien.
9.Rock Wall, part 2: Blow up the wall of this small cave to find a healing atom and enlarge the
cave.
10.Rock Wall, part 3: Blow the last wall of this cave to open a shortcut back to the sub area.
11.In the control room with the big door, between the security monitor and the orange cylinder (and
to the right of the switch that raises and lowers the water level), there is a secret door and
crawlspace that will reveal some ammo and scuba gear.
12.After going through the double doors and then through the rotating gears, there is an initial water
lake pouring into a tunnel. On the right side of this tunnel, there is a crack in the wall. Blow it up,
and go through the teleporter to get to the secret area, where you'll find some aliens and RPG
ammo.
13.At the beginning of the slime river there is a fan on the wall. Shoot it out, and then jump onto the
ledge to the right and into the tunnel to find more health.
14.Hug the left wall during the rapids area of the sewer. You should catch on a small outcropping in
the wall right before the end of the river. Blow open the wall to reveal some aliens, some ammo,
and the secret switch to take you to level 6!
Bonus Areas
Under water, in the flooded area, you can blow up one of the walls in the center to reveal some
goodies.
Level 6: Launch Facility
Secret Areas (4 total)
1.After obtaining the blue key in the room with the two force fields, go back to the room with the
small slime pond. The grate in the bottom of the pond should now be open. Swim through to a
small area containing various ammo and powerups.
2.In the large pillared room, there is a fan in the ceiling above the ramp. Blow out the fan and use a
jetpack to reach the hidden items.
3.In the control room near the large bay doors, a section of the wall opens to reveal armor.
4.After you've launched the rocket and gone underground, you'll come to a room with lots of
computer monitors. One opens to reveal some healing atoms.
Level 5: The Abyss
Secret Areas (6 total)
1.In the large room facing the fire pit area, a wall to the left has a secret door concealing some
steroids.
2.In the fire pit area, jump into the fire to be teleported to the locked room by the rope bridge.
You'll find some healing atoms on a ledge. Stepping onto that ledge causes some bad guys to
teleport in.
3.In the same room as secret #2, jump up to the ledge with the RPG ammo on it.
4.After climbing up along the lava falls to the top, shoot the weak spot in the wall. It opens a long
passage with a variety of ammo on the ground. The area near the far end of the passage is the
actual secret.
5.Pressing the switch at the top of the lava falls opens the passageway leading to the secret. Follow
it to a cave with a large fire, some healing atoms, and a dancing girl! You can tell Duke likes
what he sees. :-)
6.On the wall to the right outside the entrance to the spaceship, you'll find a secret door leading to
a small plateau and a healing atom.
Bonus Areas
After you go thru the the blue key door, there is a dark area to the left. If you use the night vision
goggles, you can see "Go with the flow" written on the wall.
After going up the winding stairs into the "chanting caves," you'll come to a landing with a
window the outside. There is some health and armor on the ledge.
From this area, go down to the small spring waterfall. You can jump into it and walk behind it
where you'll find a chaingun.
In the ceremonial fire room, you can press both of the hands on the wall. A door opens,
revealing an RPG.
From this area, you can jump onto another alcove where you'll get a pair of night vision goggles.
From the beginning of the lava area, go to the right (towards the side with the shrink ray), and
use the jetpack to fly into the shrinkray cave. On the wall you'll see the message, "You are not
supposed to be here."
Fun Things to Do and See
Return to main Duke Nukem Page!!
One of the greatest things about Duke Nukem 3D are all the gags, hidden jokes the developers planted in the game and simply
bugs. Here are a few:
If your down on ammo and you need a "Kick," try this: select Duke's kick as your weapon. Now press Ctrl and ~
together. Duke will kick with both feet. This is a great way to kill your enimies faster or get the most out of your steriods.
in Level one kill all the monsters and stuff but don't exit the level. Go to the door tht leads to the bridge that leads to the
exit, now throw yourself in between the door! and press spacebar to close the door until you get crushed and die (make
sure GOD mode is on) Then open the door and do the same thing again! now you are a floating disc! Press F7 to switch
views to the view where you can see DUKE then fire a rocket and watch it fly out your a**! don't jump or fall a long
distance or else to become normal duke again!
You need BUILD to see this. Go into E2L1, and (not moving from the initial location that your at) using the 2D mode,
move yourself outside and into space. Go to the 3D mode, and you should be "floating" right outside the window, and
right near that spaceship docked nearby. Float to the other side of that ship, and you'll see that it's name is, ironically
enough: USS FRAMERATE.
go to E2L1. after you get the pipe bomb, stand next to one of the windows. face almost parallel to the window, but keep
the reticle aimed out into space. toss a pipe bomb, and watch it sail away! a great way to get back at that pesky space
ship. I don't know if you can blow it up, but it makes you feel good anyway.
There is a number on the bottom of a bench on E2L2 underneath the Earth Defense sign that reads 1138. The numbers
"1138" found on E2L2 refer to the first movie that George Lucas made, entitled "THX-1138". And there are some
places you can go to see messages from the levelord. One is on E1L5. There is a shrinker that hits you from another
room across lava. Go to the lava room and use a cheat to get the jetpack and fly to the shrinker. on the wall is a message
that says "You're not supposed to be here. Levelord" There is one other i found on E3L1. get to the end of the level and
you see a crack in the wall you can look out of and see a building and stuff, us DNCLIP and go through the wall. Walk
forward and look to your left and there is another message form the levelord. There are probably more. Also there is a
rumor about a room with the designer's photo's. Look in the textures in the Levelmaker and you willl see them. But i
don't know where they are in the game.
if you shrink SOME of the dancers (I am not asure which ones) and then give them money, they will stay shrunk it is
really cool.
Play the launch facility with a friend and have one of you go inside the rocket and have the other hit the switch...well you
don't go to the moon but you do explode!
You must freeze monster, then wait until he melt. Get the shrinker and shrink monster. Try not killing kim, just get freezer
again, duck and schoot at him when he start growing. When he melt, he will be really small and shoot like always.
(5/27/96) - from -Falcon At any time that the height limit in any stage is high enough to fall from the top and die, turn on
God Mode (DNKROZ/DNCORNHOLIO) and if neccesary, use the code to get the jetpack (DNITEMS/DNSTUFF).
Fly all the way up as high as you can and switch to the view mode where you are standing 3 feet in back of Duke. Now,
leaving God Mode on, fall all the way to what would be a gory death and notice that when he hits, it freezes on a few
select frames of Duke's animations that show his head snapping back and him spitting blood. You can walk around like
this, and even shoot with this glitch intact, but I think opening a door will cause him to go normal again.
(5/27/96) - from -Falcon There are two points in which you can try this Glitch: In the very beginning of the game, on the
rooftop, or in the second level in the sewer. All you have to do is get to the vent that you drop down to get to the street
or the shaft beneath the cover of the manhole and as you start to fall, repeatedly turn your jetpack off and then on, trying
to let yourself fall a few inches each time. If you get it right, both the top and bottom openeings will mysteriously seal off
and thery'll be no exit. The only way out is suicide. Time to whip out the old RPG and kiss your ass goodbye...
(5/22/96) - from Paul Forst / Iron DukeWhat you do, is got to any level with any women in it (strippers, cheerleaders,
etc.) and shrink them (one side note: if you shrink the cheerleaders in the boss level - the Stadium - in episode 3, they
unshrink bigger than before), once they have been shrunk select the freezethrower and fire at them. You will usually hear
a cry like an alien dying and possibly a spurt of blood, but they will not die. Then when they unshrink, they will be
indestructable. You can fire off 100 RPG's at them and they'll still keep on dancing. Also the aliens that always appear
when you kill one of the girls will not appear if you use this technique... There is also another related glitch where you first
freeze them, then shrink them and then freeze them again. When they unshrink they will be indestructable but you WILL
be able to freeze them again, but this time they will still be dancing while frozen, and if you then walk up to them you'll
shatter them to pieces. These glitches are in the full version, I don't know if they will or will not work with the shareware
version ... Try it out and enjoy...
On the second board, collapse the building and blast open the pothole! Throw a gernade in the hole and watch the same
gernade fall from the sky and go back into the pothole the same way you threw it in!
In the theater bathroom on level 1, check just above the urinals for a special phone number. Remember Tommy Tutone
from the 80's?
Throw a pipe bomb or shoot an RPG into a teleporter. :-)
Hang out by the fire hydrant in level 1 with an RPG ready. Swallow the steroids and shoot a rocket back towards where
you start the level. Then, immediately run after that rocket. Don't run into it or you're toast. Instead, run past it on the
side. Then, turn around right as you reach the building. If you time it right, you can take the rocket right in the face. Then
you get to see your blood spread all over the ground. Suicide has never been so fun! (by James C. Barnes)
Go into the bar next to the disco on level 2 and check out what's playing on the tube. Do the words "slow-speed chase"
ring a bell? (Note : you won't get to see what's on TV if you fire an RPG into the room before entering.)
Turn off clipping mode with 'dnclip' and walk through a mirror. Neat effect!
Go into the chapel on level 3 and walk up to the altar. Shoot out both stained-glass windows and then press the space
bar against the face panel. The cross will invert, and a passage will open on the left side. You'll find an octabrain and a
corpse in a green space suit. Duke says, "That's one doomed space marine!" (If you haven't played Doom DeathMatch,
you won't get the joke). There's a chaingun on the ledge behind the corpse, too.
Try this: go outside, turn on God mode, and fly up with the jetpack as high as you can go. Press F7 to turn on view
mode, and then turn off your jetpack. After you hit the ground you'll get a nice view of what you'd look like if God mode
wasn't on!
On Level 6, the Launch Facility, you start out facing a slow-moving turbine. Go between any two blades of the turbine,
and drop a holoduke. Step back, and watch its behavior as the blades hit it. Utterly useless, but interesting.
Try using your pistol or shotgun to sink a few balls on the pool table near the bar on level 2. You can also hit the space
bar against the table to shoot the balls, too.
On level 6, try tracking through some blood under the rocket and leaving footprints. Then, after you launch the rocket,
the footprints are still there--hanging in midair.
If you kill an alien while he is standing under one the the vertically opening doors, the door will come down and squish
the body, and whenever it opens after that it a stringy bit of flesh gets stretched between the two halves of the door.
Get a "shock" by touching the electrical outlet in the arcade in level 1.
Start a new game. Before descending down the vent, type in DNMONSTERS and then drop to the street. Grab the
Rocket Launcher from the ledge (you all know where this is by now) and then go to the cinema ticket window. Stand
back (I usually stand in the shadow of the air vent I came down) and shoot a rocket through the ticket window (use
crosshair if needed). This will blow a hole in the side of the wall. Now go stand infront of the hole looking into the ticket
booth and type DNMONSTERS This will turn the monsters BACK ON and the lizard who was originally in there will
EXPLODE before your very eyes in a glorious display of body parts. Its a Kodak moment so keep your finger over the
F12 key to share it with friends.
Edit the user.con file with a text editor, and you'll see how easy it is to change weapon strengths, max ammo supplies,
and other stuff. A warning, though: weapon strengths are universal, so if you change the strength of the shotgun, the Pig
Cop's will be just as powerful as yours.
(4/14/96 - from Warren Thiele) - Here is a little trick I know of. My friend found it in a DukeMatch, and it really caught
me off guard. Go in the apartment behind the cinema sign and jump onto the left window ledge facing out. Duck down
and move forward and back, but don't fall off the ledge. If you do it right you'll end up in the corner of the arcade beside
the Duke Nukem game. Since you can hear your opponent hit the elevator in the arcade you can time it so that you can
blast him with the RGB without him knowing what hit him. I am running Duke Nukem 1.1 shareware. I'm not sure if it'll
work in other version.
