Billy Idol ~ April 20, 2001

Foxwoods Casino

Billy Idol performed a short American tour in preparation for taping the VH-1 Storytellers episode (to air this summer). One of the less than 10 stops was at Foxwoods Casino on April 20. The band took the stage shortly after 9:00 p.m. in front of a packed house. They opened up with "Cradle of Love". The crowd was enthusiastic throughout the night. Billy smiled and laughed all night as he played with the crowd of flirtatous women in front of the stage. Guitarist Steve Stevens performed the majority of the songs on various acoustic guitars, accompanied by a percussionist, drummer, keyboardist, and bassist. At one point just Billy and Steve were on stage for a toned-down version of "White Wedding". The band sounded fantastic all night. Other hits included "Rebel Yell", "Flesh for Fantasy", "To Be a Lover", "Don't Need a Gun", and "Sweet Sixteen". They also played the Generation X song "The Untouchables", as well as a new song called "Fire".

The tempo changed in the beginning of Steve's solo for "Eyes Without A Face" when he broke out with his Blackburst PRS electric guitar! The stage erupted! He played electric for the rest of the evening. At one point he was using a plastic ray gun as a slide. The band played for close to 2 hours including 2 great encores - "Mony Mony" and The Doors hit "LA Woman".
