The Variety Coalition was a rave production crew in Fredericton, New Brunswick. We threw parties in 1998 and 99 for our campus coomunity radio station, CHSR 97.9 FM. Now that we are out of the game the torch has been passed to Progressive Productions. Click on their name to learn about the latest event!
Fredericton has never seen anything like the party we threw on February 20th 1999. Our deepest thanks to all our volunteers, and of course to all the wicked people who showed up and Swayed. Together we made $3000 dollars for CHSR's annual Fund Drive! Pictures are coming to the site soon (as soon as we get them developed.) If you have pics to scan and share you can Email them to us! We would love to see them.

CHSR 97.9 FM

Our favorite radio station, and the reason we do all this.

The DJs

They played for fried rice and slept on couches, and spun music that blew everybody away.

Andrew Rosenfeld

(Fredericton)
A fredericton native who spun last year at Departure, Andrew is the Friday night resident dj at the G-spot and you can tune into his show, Bass Bin, every friday from 7-9pm on CHSR. You can expect an eclectic mix of tech-house and possibly some breaks.

David Anthony

(Moncton)
Representing the Moncton Scene, this is David's first time spinning in Fredericton, though he has spun all over the maritimes. Versatile in style, you can expect anything from funky to progressive house.

Ming and sammy D

(Halifax)
This newly acquainted dark demolition tag team duo hopes to rock an open minded crowd with a plethora of new and oldschool drumNbass/jungle. It's Ming's first return since his "departure" last year. he was also a CHSR programmer until he moved to Halifax. Sammy D has been shocking junglists for the past couple of years in the Halifax party circuit and as a resident dj at the Khyber club in Halifax. You can also catch him on triple-bypass.com internet radio. Strap yourself in for an adrenaline-filled ride of 140+ bpms.

Cpt. Midnight

(Wolfville)
Originally from Halifax, he's one of our favorite people and a loved personality amongst the party community in Nova Scotia and beyond. Involved with the new scene in Wolfville, NS (Acadia University,) he'll be spinning his wacky, funky, new and old house anthems to ensure a euphoric vibe at the mystical hour of midnight.

Bob Bagnell

A Fredericton favorite and former resident dj at Kurt's, Bob has been turning heads all over the maritimes. He was the Halifax dj olympics champion of 1998, and is also a member of Techtonic, a crew of promoters in Halifax. You can expect a variety of techno styles from hard techno to hard house.

Charife

(Halifax)
Originally from London, UK, charife now hails from Halifax, where he has been pleasing crowds with his unique blend of hard trance and techno. Check out his website, Quadrivium Revival for tons of underground info from around Atlantic Canada.

Kinder

(Halifax)
Back by request, Kinder ended Departure with a fresh triphop set that left the crowd begging for more. She is currently getting a great response from the Halifax party and club scene. She is also a resident dj on triple-bypass.com internet radio. She will be opening Sway with triphop and breaks so don't be late!
