Line-up: Joey Vann (real name Canzano) (replaced by Mike Kelly in 1964) / Joe Santollo / John Salvato / Mike Arnone / Tom Bialaglow+++ Started as a neighborhood group in the early 60s, under the name of The Parisians +++ In early 1962 COED records signed them, insisting, however, on a name change +++ Their first record, "You belong to me", released in July 1962 on COED 569 under the name of The Duprees, reached no. 7 on the US charts and their biggest selling record +++ Later hits included "My own true love", "Why don't you believe me", "Have you heard" and "It's no sin" +++ In 1964 Joey Vann left the group and Mike Kelly joined them as lead singer +++ In 1965 the group signed with COLUMBIA records, with little commercial success +++ Still later, the group was also briefly known as The Italian Asphalt & Pavement Company, recording for COLOSSUS records +++ |
